Position Summary

Happy Returns is seeking a driven, self-motivated SDET to contribute to our automation and testing efforts with our rapidly growing Quality Assurance team. If you thrive on ensuring product quality, solving unique problems and delivering quality code to end-users with high confidence, this role is for you. You will be responsible for collaborating with product and engineers to create and execute test plans, enforce quality standards and expectations, and contributing to automated testing efforts in various phases of the build pipeline.

The SDET will:

  • Contribute to all facets of testing and automation efforts, ie: frontend (web / mobile), backend, database
  • Own the development and execution of test plans and test cases for various facets of Happy Returns products
  • Perform manual testing as necessary to confirm facets of Happy Returns products operate according to requirements
  • Participate and collaborate with product and engineering teams to assess impacts and scope of testing for new releases and features
  • Promote a culture of quality throughout the organization
  • Respond to reports of system malfunctions from internal and external stakeholders to investigate, confirm, and document bugs so they can be prioritized and fixed by the development team
  • Document the results of all testing accurately and completely
  • Regularly compile and report metrics of all QA activity to appropriate managers and team members

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant web and mobile QA experience
  • 3+ years of experience in web or mobile automation
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to write highly reusable, highly reliable automated tests
  • Demonstrated OOP coding skills
  • Coding experience in Java, Python, Javascript, or other languages
  • In-depth knowledge of commonly used automation frameworks, ie: Selenium, Appium etc

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience working in a CI/CM or CI/CD paradigm with tools like Jenkins, Docker, AWS
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Proficiency in writing and maintaining test plans and test cases
  • The ability to work well with a diverse team of product managers, engineers, operations staff, and others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage the testing of numerous facets of a project or products simultaneously
  • Ability and desire to rapidly adapt to and learn new technologies
  • Interest in e-commerce, logistics, and/or the L.A. startup community
