We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team and develop software systems and automated solutions for the operational aspects of an organization. 


Site Reliability Engineer responsibilities include monitoring computer systems and building alerts for various operational issues that computer systems and services can experience. At FLYR, this will entail various pipeline services such as, but not limited to data ingestion, machine learning, web applications, etc.


Ultimately, you will work with our engineering teams to ensure our organization can continue to deliver products and services in our cloud infrastructure environment using concepts like Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). SLOs and SLAs will form the basis for incident management at FLYR and for our customers.


What will your journey at FLYR look like: (Responsibilities)

  • Collaborate with DevOps and R&D team members to ensure that FLYR’s Cloud-hosted services meet internal and customer SLAs
  • Respond to incidents and execute remediation activities to ensure smooth operations
  • Investigate and analyze incidents related to platform and application stability, following up to engineer improvements on FLYR’s infrastructure and operations
  • Partner with application development teams to provide guidance and help improve FLYR’s data-heavy, machine-learning based product offering
  • Drive observability and resiliency initiatives
  • Contribute to the definition and documentation of SRE processes
  • Mentor SRE staff, helping the team grow and mature
  • Apply SRE core principles: Measurement, Scalability, Resiliency, Automation

What you should pack for this trip: (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years deploying on and supporting cloud-hosted services (GCP preferred, AWS and Azure are a plus)
  • 2+ years with Kubernetes container orchestration
  • 3+ years operating service-oriented applications, including infrastructure and application deployment processes (Docker, Helm, Spinnaker, Argo CD, CircleCI, Jenkins)
  • 3+ years of scripting and programming (Python, Go, Bash), and the development of frameworks and libraries
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure configuration automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC, Terraform)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Compensation: The salary range for this role is commensurate with experience and is as follows:

  • Starting minimum: $119,000
  • Role cap: $199,000

Candidate Selection Process:

  • Recruiter Screen - Active candidate profiles are screened against the criteria listed above
  • HM Screen - An introductory & technical discussion with the hiring manager
  • Onsite Prep Call - Conducted by a recruiter to go over material that will be covered in the final round
  • Final (Virtual) Onsite - A series of meetings with the hiring team to finalize our evaluation of candidates, assessing leadership, and technical skills
  • Debrief/Decision
