Fair's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how millions of users access mobility. Our products need to reliably and efficiently handle information at scale, intuitively guide a customer’s car shopping experience, and process millions of dollars with precision. We're looking for highly motivated engineers who have a passion to help build out a world-class automotive marketplace platform. As we are dealing with individual transactions totalling thousands of dollars overall representing millions of dollars flowing in and out of our company, our billing and payments infrastructure must be airtight. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on multiple projects critical to Fair’s needs towards that end, providing more payment options to customers, providing guarantees of payment towards our lenders, and ensuring the data is backed up by our accounting systems


As a Senior Software Engineer on the Billing and Payments team,  you will work with business stakeholders, engineering leadership, and the other members on your teams to build custom integration architecture from the ground up, with an eye towards stability, performance and automation. Additionally, we’ll look to you to provide guidance and vision for the other engineers in your team and to collaborate with other engineers in other teams as necessary.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product, design and engineers to design and build new consumer facing features
  • Build and maintain microservices, designing and implementing APIs, manage cross service integration testing and create robust, fault tolerant services
  • Implement robust distributed systems
  • Test, deploy, and monitor changes on test and production environments
  • Work with customer support teams in investigating and addressing issues.
  • Contribute to the broader engineering culture and processes.


 Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience with Python
  • Experience building APIs for customer-facing applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or mathematics or equivalent experience
  • Experienced with SQL databases and query languages and ORMs (e.g. SqlAlchemy)
  • Experience with building and operating software in the cloud (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with automated testing (unit, functional, and integration tests)
  • Ability to contribute to and excel in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Great communication skills


Bonus Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in Billing or Payments systems.
  • Experience working with gRPC.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and best practices
  • Experience working on e-commerce applications
  • Experience working with Kubernetes along with AWS infrastructure.
