The Team

As the foundation of our company, GoGuardian engineers help build, optimize, and maintain our infrastructure and applications that support millions of students and educators every day. They develop solutions to support meaningful interactions between students and teachers in face-to-face, remote, or hybrid learning environments.
The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer enabling the Admin product at GoGuardian, you'll build, optimize, and maintain applications and infrastructure that impacts millions of students and educators every day. The Admin product enables schools to quickly and easily administer complex filtering, monitoring, and alerting features for Administrators and Students. You'll join a team of motivated and empowered engineers, where you will be responsible for Golang microservice design, development, and release to production.
What You'll Do

• Develop and evolve both existing and newly developed APIs in a microservice architecture, using Golang.
• Demonstrate a set of fundamental software engineering skills that result in predictability in engineering, scheduling, and the quality of products developed
• Collaborate with other teams (product managers, delivery managers, security, support, and other business units) to achieve product and business requirements
• Merge your innovation and 'out of the box' thinking with best-in-class engineering practices.
• Collaborate and share ideas, designs, and innovations across engineering to build the best solutions and culture.
• Openly share your experience and knowledge, while also listening and learning from others to promote growth throughout the engineering organization.
• Celebrate wins and 'lessons learned' together with your team
• Bring the mindset of continuous improvement to everything you do.

Who You Are

• 5-7+ years of professional industry experience as a backend engineer in a distributed systems environment
• 3+ years experience in designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Knowledge of at least one statically typed compiled language (preferably Golang)
• Experience working with web applications
• Strong understanding of system performance and scaling
• Experience with container orchestration platforms
• Familiarity with AWS and relational database concepts
• Familiarity with a variety of database concepts such as NoSQL, column-stores, and distributed databases
• Experience working in an energetic startup environment
