Senior Propulsion Manufacturing Engineer
Team Overview
Relativity is creating the first autonomous rocket factory. Our vision is to build the future of humanity in space – starting with rockets. Our competitive edge comes from the cost and lead time advantages afforded by radically simple designs using 3d printed parts. In order to execute on those advantages, we need strong technical leaders to make sure we are making the best use of our capabilities, and strong project managers to make sure we are controlling cost and executing as quickly as we can.
Role Overview
As a Sr. Propulsion Manufacturing Engineer, you will have technical ownership in the development of the Aeon propulsion system and provide support to a world-class propulsion team. The successful candidate will have demonstrated technical excellence developing advanced manufacturing processes, and will work directly with engineering and technician teammates to transition Aeon propulsion system processes to production and flight. In addition to technical contributions, you will be responsible for managing projects involving both internal and vendor resources, where you will plan and execute in cross-functional teams. On a daily basis you might be working with analysts and designers to make sure your part requirements are up to date, meeting with vendors to discuss schedules and specifications, presenting your progress to management, and working with technicians in the factory on the latest build. The types of projects could be process focused such as welding, brazing, forming, thermal processing, and otherwise supporting the design and development of thrust chamber components. Additionally, as a senior member of the team you will also have a critical role in mentoring and recruiting new team members.
Candidate Profile
In order to be successful in this role, you should be someone who thrives in ambiguity and is able to lead their own projects into completion with minimal oversight. This position is ideal for experienced manufacturing engineers looking for a role with broad technical authority and responsibility in a small, high-performance team. A high degree of drive, autonomy, and leadership is required. Experience in a fast paced aerospace environment where you have completed difficult projects while collaborating effectively with other key groups is highly desired. Along with these high expectations comes the opportunity to have a significant influence on a fast-growing startup company and to make rapid professional gains in an environment that encourages growth and risk.

In order to be successful in this role, you should have the following:
- Experience welding and brazing development (EB, TIG, MIG welding processes)
- Material forming processes such as spin, stamping, waterjet cutting
- Tooling design and thermal/structural analysis for welding, shipping/handling, and integration
- Thermal barrier coatings (disilicide, aluminide, NiCrAlY)
