The Developmental Prototypes and Projects (DPP) team for the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System Hosted Payload Project provides direct support to the Space Force’s Advanced Development Division at the Space and Missile Systems Center and develop solutions for the hardest problems in the Space Enterprise! This position represents a career opportunity to lead the technical teams on the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System-Hosted Payload international partnership between the Space Force and Japan.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Building, maintaining, and driving collaborative relationships between Space and Missile Systems Center Development Corps’ Advanced Development Division, their industrial base team members, the Department of Defense, and Intelligence Community (IC) users/stakeholders
- Developing, communicating, and defending technical and programmatic positions on customer issues which may include risk assessments and mitigation strategies, system verification and sell-off, ground system acquisitions, digital engineering, network/architecture concepts, and technology development/readiness, to both the customer and Aerospace senior management
- Building and Leading multi-disciplinary teams of subject matter experts from Aerospace’s Engineering and Technology Group to ensure appropriate tasking, progress and results are achieved
What You Need To Be Successful
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related technical discipline
- Exhibit high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative
- Experience interfacing with and briefing senior military officers and government civilians
- Experience interfacing with and leading technical discussions with foreign government representatives and contractors
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a Government as a systems integrator environment
- Demonstrated strong program management, risk assessment/mitigation, requirements verification, and acquisition process experience
- Demonstrated experience leading teams that host DoD payloads on commercial space vehicles
- Demonstrated experience with space vehicle or payload integration and test
- Experience with Risk Management Framework and cybersecurity requirements
- This position requires ability to travel locally to off-site meetings, and air travel to Aerospace or Customer office locations domestic and international
- This position requires a current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
- Demonstrated ability to work across mixed government, SETA, and FFRDC teams
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, direct, and manage performance of highly skilled technical staff
- Demonstrated ability to establish, maintain, and grow effective working relationships with customers
- Exceptional interpersonal, collaborative, written, and oral communication skills
How You Can Stand Out
- Familiarity with Aerospace business practices to include STE management and execution, performance development process, goal/strategy development, and personnel accountability
- 12 years+ of experience of increasingly responsible professional engineering/science experience
- M.S. in engineering, mathematics, or science
- Experience and expertise in space domain awareness collection systems, and operations
- Working knowledge of the GEOINT enterprise including ground, air, space, and end-user
- Familiarity with Air Force and Space Force Digital Engineering initiatives, & model-based systems engineering
