WHY WE NEED YOU

• You will act as the chief architect leading the technology development activities of the control systems (flight controls / fly-by-wire / avionics systems) for VH’s hyperloop vehicle plan, design, build, test and certification
• You will drive system-level controls architecture definition and development (software/hardware)

• Technical leader accountable for control systems project milestones, development plan, and technical readiness level, coordinating across integrated product teams
• Solve complex and often cross-departmental problems by leading controls architecture requirements definition, design reviews, test readiness, and qualification to meet system-level requirements
• Assess technical and business impacts, including leading trade studies and leveraging commercial-off-the-shelf products to meet schedule and cost constraints
• Confront and resolve intellectual and design biases, acting as an expert design verifier and coordinating with functional design engineers from across VH
• Recruit, mentor, coach, and motivate your team, fostering innovation to develop, improve, and find alternate uses for our technology

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

• Master’s degree in Engineering or another relevant field or equivalent work experience
• Significant experience (>15 years) in architecture design, integration, test and certification of safety critical control systems for aerospace or automotive vehicles (for example: Fly-by-wire, avionics, auto-pilot systems)
• Significant experience in leading system architecture design from requirements capture to system specification, validation, verification by test and certification up to delivery to customers
• Strong expertise in System Engineering and Safety Engineering processes (ARP4754 & ARP4761, DO-178, DO-254 in aerospace for example)
• Significant experience in the aerospace or automotive industry where safety is paramount and certification processes are very stringent (where fail safe and fail operational systems are required)
• Expert in bus architecture (ARINC, CAN, Ethernet, Serial) with proven record on aerospace or automobile projects
• Excellent technical knowledge of sensor technologies, RF communication system, data recorder system, LiDAR sensor, IMU, electric motor/actuator, and electrical power distribution system
• Significant experience with control / avionics or autonomous control systems
• Experience leading teams and delivering projects
