WHY WE NEED YOU

As a Process Development Engineer at Virgin Hyperloop, you’ll help bring our hyperloop vehicle from concept to reality. Working with our Lead Process Development Engineer, you’ll use your aerospace or automotive experience to develop, implement, and maintain a robust general assembly manufacturing processes for a vehicle or fuselage – including tooling, equipment procurement, setup, and commissioning.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Solve difficult and complex engineering problems collaboratively with moderate supervision alongside the Lead Process Development Engineer
  • Identify and manage equipment and tooling needs, procurement, setup, verification, commissioning, and maintenance
  • Establish Assembly Processes utilizing Six Sigma methods and Kaizen ideologies. Develop, maintain and promote standardized work to ensure proper manufacturing
  • Utilize 2D/3D CAD software to communicate concepts, processes, equipment and tooling placement, and create a virtual build environment
  • Write standard operation procedures, manuals, and safety documentation for General Assembly tooling and equipment
  • Assist Lead Process Development Engineer in developing an efficient and safe General Assembly process for the hyperloop Vehicle
  • Coordinate detailed mockup of assemblies for analysis by Design Engineering and Process Development departments
  • Develop and promote a safe working environment by evaluating current and future assembly processes for safety and proper ergonomics
  • Other projects as assigned
  • Handling high-voltage & high-power permanent magnet systems, which may pose health risks to some individuals 

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field OR equivalent work experience
  • Hands-on working experience with tooling and equipment setup and commissioning – automotive or aerospace industry strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated talent and track record in process evaluation, development and improvement
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and methodologies
  • Ability to interpret and extract CAD information (no designing experience needed)
  • Proficient in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) terminologies and associations 

NICE TO HAVE

  • 5+ years in vehicle or transportation manufacturing experience with tooling and equipment commissioning
  • Six Sigma and Kaizen experience
  • Familiarity with high voltage systems and associated safety equipment and procedures
  • Familiarity with automated manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Hands-on fabrication experience
  • Proficient in digital visualization of assembly processes
