WHY WE NEED YOU

The Process Development team serves as a cross-functional bridge within the company, enabling the development and production of hyperloop hardware. From early prototyping to mass production, Manufacturing Process Development Engineers work together with Design Engineers, Project Managers, Test Engineers, and external partners to bring innovative design concepts to reality.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Work daily with design engineers to understand the most up-to-date product requirements and development status to ensure manufacturing development keeps pace
  • Research, design, prototype and develop manufacturing process ranging the preliminary “laboratory’ testing to pilot projects
  • Design & setup manufacturing process from scratch for low volume product assemblies
  • Provide design for manufacturing and assembly feedback to the Product Development Engineering team
  • Write standard operation procedures, manuals and safety documentation for manufacturing processes
  • Support the procurement team with managing relationships with external vendors for component and assembly builds
  • Utilize 2D/3D CAD software to communicate concepts, design basic development fixtures and equipment, and manufacturing process layouts
  • Research and report total process cost for various design trades including raw material, cycle time, outside vendors, capital & tooling investments, facility requirements, direct & indirect labor & logistics costs
  • Gather & report sufficiently detailed information for make vs. buy decisions
  • Work with Engineering Project Management to develop and maintain a project schedule for assigned projects
  • Perform other projects as assigned
  • Willing to travel to our Las Vegas site for about 25% of time

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with prototyping development, process development in manufacturing setting
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing techniques and methodologies
  • Ability to perform Validation/Verification testing for manufacturing processes
  • Ability to interpret complex part and assembly drawings
  • Ability to make effective decisions and communicate reasoning
  • Ability to work with external vendors
  • Develop and assist in writing manufacturing procedure and documentation

NICE TO HAVE

  • 0-2+ years of experience in Prototyping, medium to high volume manufacturing setting
  • Proficiency in GD&T
  • Experience in power electronics and/or battery manufacturing development
  • Good understanding of Design, Product development and Quality functions
