Principal Director - Enterprise Cyber & Engineering

The Cyber and Engineering Principal Director is responsible for providing technical and programmatic leadership to Enterprise Cyber and Engineering efforts across Air Force and Space Force programs.
As a manager, the Principal Director assigns resources, determines staffing needs, and coordinates activities and operations among staff; communicates and coordinates activities to counterpart organizations, management, and customers. The position requires remote management of personnel. The organization supports multiple customer organizations including the SMC CIO (SMC/ECC) and the SMC Enterprise Engineering organizations. The organization supports the CIO in providing support to programs across the Center for Program Protection and the Engineering organization in conducting Independent Technical Risk Assessments for SMC programs, assisting with frequency spectrum management and orbital debris.
The organization also supports Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division (CCSD) at Lackland AFB, Texas in the development of secure cryptographic solutions and Air Combat Command, Headquarters Cyber Capability Center at Scott AFB, Illinois to validate requirements and guide programs requiring National Security Agency (NSA) certified crypto.
The selected candidate will interface with multiple Government personnel across the diverse customer base and will work in close cooperation with Aerospace, SETA, SE&I and development contractor personnel. The selected candidate will be expected to provide proactive support to the customer and cultivate productive working relationships in a fast-paced multi-organizational environment. The position requires some travel.
Key Functions
Manage a geographically diverse team consistent with corporate practices, goals and objectives. Provide leadership for setting goals and direction, monitor progress and provide feedback through performance review process for staff development. Plan, organize and manage tasks and projects for the organization in an efficient and effective manner
Provide systems engineering and subject matter expert support to space system cybersecurity, defensive cyber operations, cryptographic device development, orbital debris and spectrum management
Establish organization structure and staffing. Recommend budgets, allocate resources, and establishes priorities. Report organization technical activities, issues, and accomplishments to upper management, subordinates, and customers
Provide proactive support to customers to identify high value work for the organization, translate customer requests into technical priorities and plan and manage the team accordingly
Lead outreach and coordination across the corporation with program and architecture counterparts on program protection strategy for the enterprise to provide enhanced space mission protection and assurance
Lead and sponsor activities in collaboration with ETG to advance tools and technologies to fill gaps in space systems cybersecurity and encryption, defensive cyber operations, spectrum management and debris
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
Substantial experience in a managerial role with proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of contractors, customers, and corporate staff
Demonstrated technical leadership, mature judgement and strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated organizational skills in planning and managing tasks, projects and personnel
Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, approval processes and defensive cyber operations
Demonstrated experience in building and leading teams with diverse skills mix
Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communication skills
Current SCI access and current SSBI, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
Preferred
15 or more years of progressively responsible professional engineering/scientific experience
Advanced technical degree in engineering, science or math
Previous Aerospace management experience
Familiarity with agile and DevSecOps processes
Current or ability to obtain SAP accesses
