WHY WE NEED YOU

The Electromagnetic Systems division is responsible for the design and development of the Hyperloop electro-magnetic engines and actuators. These systems are all electromechanical in nature and are designed by a highly cross-functional team of exceptional engineers in the areas of Electromagnetics, Mechanical Design, Heat Transfer, Materials Science, Testing, Controls and Embedded Systems, and Electrical System Modeling. In your role will be required to interact with teams across the Manufacturing, Test and Development, Vehicle, Integration and Systems Teams, as required.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Mechanical Design Manager is responsible for:

  • Leading the mechanical design of the electro-magnetic engines and actuators. You will directly manage the design engineers working on the engines.
  • Developing design concepts, creating CAD models and managing configuration throughout the design lifecycle, using Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter.
  • Generating and reviewing design of components and systems (including engineering drawings).  Signing off drawings while ensuring defined timelines, quality standards and business objectives are met.
  • Working with internal teams to facilitate integration of subsystems with the vehicle.
  • Working with the manufacturing team as well as external suppliers to ensure the timely completion of functional hardware and that the design is completed with production in mind.
  • Collaborating with management and technical leads to interpret program requirements and distill into mechanical design requirements. Capture, define, validate and verify design requirements.
  • Establishing best practices, methods and standards and ensuring consistent, high-quality mechanical engineering processes are followed by the mechanical design team.
  • Ensuring that safety is a key consideration during development of new programs and processes and/or FEA.
  • Managing your team’s resources and priorities whilst providing technical leadership as well as mentorship and guidance to entry level and mid-level design engineers.
  • Generating and reviewing analysis of preliminary and detailed designs with use of hand calculations and/or FEA.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE
