Manager, Quality Engineering

Overview:

As a Manager, Quality Engineering at Weedmaps, you will be empowered to contribute to our growing set of products as a leader on our rapidly growing technology team. You will be responsible for managing, growing, and motivating a Quality Engineering team, delivering quality releases in an agile environment meeting company standards of excellence and customers expectations. The Manger, QE is also responsible for managing the QE process to ensure the highest system level quality coverage for the product. The impact you'll make:

  • Define and execute quality engineering practices to ensure the highest quality software within time frame of Agile intervals
  •  Appropriate to each project, define and execute appropriate test  strategy that allows to meet the challenging deadlines without compromising quality, scope, and timing of the release
  • Establish quality standards for system integration, complex processes, and end-to-end integration testing
  • Lead continuous improvements of QE standards, processes, and procedures
  • Determine risk/benefits scenarios to make data driven decisions
  • Develop, coach, mentor team members, define career path
  • Deliver performance reviews for your team members, set up performance goals
  • Promote and continuously improve test automation effectiveness in CI/CD environment 
  •  Manage and motivate team to accomplish significant deliverables within tight deadlines
  • Demonstrate leadership to go above and beyond the call of duty to deliver quality software
  • Plan for future QE department operational and procedural improvements
  • Keep abreast of technical trends with regards to Software Quality Engineering, and evaluate their value for improving our software delivery process
  • Influence quality and productivity improvements through involvement in the development of new and improved procedures, process innovations, training, and cultural changes
  • Identify KPI, product performance and quality metrics. Report on performance of quality system to executive management

What you've accomplished:

  • 7-10 years of experience in Quality Engineering. 
  • Minimum of 3- 5 years or management experience
  • Thorough understanding of the software development process and all aspects of Agile Quality Engineering and a proven record of building, managing and leading a team
  • Proven experience in being able to hire, manage, cultivate and motivate Software Quality Engineering teams
  • Experience with successful Agile techniques: User Stories, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, CI/CD
  • Strong working knowledge of Selenium, Selenium WebDriver, Node.JS, Java, Java Script, TestNG, XML
  • Working experience in performance, load testing, such as Blazemeter and developing automation frameworks
  • Experience managing remote and distributed teams 
  • Flexibility and creativity in handling multiple activities and competing priorities
  • Self-motivated, driven, results-oriented
  • Must have strong teamwork orientation and the ability to promote collaboration within and across teams
  • Can support and mentor team members to accomplish team goals
  • Strong, effective and persuasive communications at all levels of management in both written and verbal form  
  • Ability to adapt, plan, and organize in a constantly changing environment
  • Must be proactive, meticulous, organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to meet challenging deadlines
