THE PURPOSE:
The Lead – System Safety Assurance is responsible for:
o Managing VHO Hazard Log, as directed by the RAMS Engineering Director of Safety Certification & Quality Assurance.
o Interfacing with the Independent Safety Assessor(s) (ISA) and managing the related contract(s) for VHO product development.
• The Senior System Safety Coordinator will interface with the System Safety Engineers, the System Engineers, the Designers, the Verifiers, the Testers and the Validator, to ensure that the VHO Hazard Log has full traceability with design, verification and validation, testing and safety artifacts.
• The Senior System Safety Coordinator will provide an interface between the ISA(s) and all VHO stakeholders to ensure that all identified issues and comments are addressed to the satisfaction of the ISA(s).
• The VHO System Safety Case will rely mostly on completeness of VHO Hazard Log and acceptance of VHO System Safety Case will be supported by the final ISA report(s).
THE ROLE:
• Interface with the ISA:
o Establish drafts of Statements of Work (SOW) for the ISA contract(s) and support procurement process as technical procurement lead.
o Manage the contract(s) to achieve on-time/on-budget delivery: keeping records of timecards, communications, deliverables status.
o Supply of artifacts to the ISA(s) as needed.
o Manage ISA comment logs: this includes filtering out and responding on behalf of the document owner as much as possible to minimize disruption.
o Coordinate ISA review sessions and audits.
o Lead progress meetings with the ISA(s): minutes, management of action logs, etc…
• -Safety Case Hierarchy and Hazard Log Build-up:
o Create and maintain a safety case breakdown addressing product vs. application (generic/specific) and across the subsystems, with an overarching VHO System Safety Case.
o Maintain a centralized hazard log which is referred to in the overarching VHO System Safety Case.
o For several safety Cases (incl. the overarching VHO System Safety Case): provide system definition sections, safety management sections and more general collection/assembly of contributing elements.
• -Environmental Protection:
o Lead on definition of high-level requirements on environmental protection.
o Support the hazard analysis and HAZID from environmental point of view.
• -Support to Business Development:
o Technical write-up of safety documentation as required by business team.
• Travel percentage: not significant.
• Environment, Health and Safety: comply with VHO occupational health and safety rules whether in the office or on project sites.

o Represent SCQA in meetings and influence via good engineering argumentation/judgement, thanks to excellent communication and technical writing skills.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• Extensive exposure to and deep understanding of system safety engineering.
• Proven experience in system integration safety problematic and Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) work.
• Proven experience in compliance with CENELEC 50126, 50128, and 50129.
• BS degree in an engineering discipline or related field.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• MS and/or PhD in an engineering discipline or a related field.
