Lead Structural Test Engineer
Team and Role Overview:
At Relativity, we reimagine the way rockets are built and flown. We are looking for a Lead Structural Test engineer to join our growing team in Los Angeles. As a Lead Structural Test engineering, you will spearhead the development of our large scale structural test capabilities, helping us meet our ambitious goal of launching a 3D printed rocket.
The Mission/Outcomes and Objectives:
To support our mission of changing people’s conception of the way rockets are built and flown, you will be building and activating test rigs which test the additively manufactured parts of Terran 1. This will include first and second stage hydro-testing at our E4 facilities at the Stennis Space Center. You will also be conducting static structural testing and dynamic test set ups.
On a day to day, you will be working across teams to refine test requirements, develop test plans, and execute test campaigns. The success of this team is also highly reliant on recruiting of other structural test engineers to support our mission.
Some travel (up to 25%) to our test sites is required for this role.
Candidate Profile:
In order to be successful in this role, you should be someone who thrives in ambiguity and is able to lead their own projects into completion. Ideally, you are someone who has come from a fast paced, aerospace environment, having completed difficult projects while collaborating effectively with other key groups.
You should also have extensive test experience—from developing and executing test plants to making key choices in instrumentation and signal analysis tools.
Minimum Required Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience leading projects, developing innovative designs in aerospace, participating in trade studies of large aerospace projects.
- Experience with instrumentation and signal analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Work with interdisciplinary teams in a leadership capacity.
