Lead Integration Engineer

| Greater LA Area

Team and Role Overview

The program team at Relativity Space pulls together the efforts of all the other vehicle teams to deliver flight-ready vehicles for test and launch. To meet our goals, we will build best in class manufacturing, test and quality control processes to keep our team moving fast while still producing high quality, well understood products. The integration engineers are responsible for turning piece parts into a fully verified rocket stage, ready for test or flight. The Lead Integration Engineering will establish the processes and teams needed to accomplish that goal. Because our team agile, the lead will also be the primary integration engineer for our first flight vehicle.

The Mission/Outcomes and Objectives

Our mission is to change people’s conception of the way rockets are built and flown. The Lead Integration Engineer will leverage software and automation to integrate and check out vehicles faster than anyone in the history of the industry while maintaining an accurate record of the as-planned and as-built configurations. Over the next 12 months, you will establish our inaugural stage integration work cells at our manufacturing and test facilities and build the team of engineers that staff them. You will pilot our work order and quality management systems and work with owners of those tools to improve them. You and your team will develop the basic operating and checkout procedures for the vehicle. Ultimately, you will manage integration and non-reactive testing of the world's first 3D printed rocket, delivering flight ready stages to the test and launch site.

Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you need to have a commitment to quality and the discipline required to achieve it. You will set the tone for how procedures and work orders are written, how problems on the floor are addressed, and how test operations are run on the vehicle. You will be a trail blazer for the company, so you need to be very self-motivated and be able to influence and get buy in from engineers and technicians to implement your plans. You will need to be comfortable with desk work such as writing work instructions and analyzing test data as well as hands on work setting up work cells, assembling hardware and running test operations. You should be comfortable operating and troubleshooting complicated systems comprised of mechanical hardware, electronic hardware and software.
