WHY WE NEED YOU

The Quality Engineering team is responsible for assuring system & product level requirements are verified to industry standards and we need a Lead Inspector to support product development of a new transportation system by performing mechanical inspection of complex assemblies, assessing manufacturing integration, performing technical data reviews, assuring site safety, and maintaining principles of the quality management system.  

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead and provide guidance for all inspection activities at VHO, supporting the development, integration, and testing of a new transportation system inclusive of a civil structure
  • Conduct receiving, in-process, and final inspection of articles and assemblies
  • Responsible for verifying vendor reports (i.e. material certification, test reports, etc.) and internal fabrication documentation such as work instruction, travelers, and end of line test reports
  • Programming, staging, and operating coordinated measuring machines (i.e. Portable Arms, Bridge CMMs, Laser Trackers) for extra-large parts
  • Responsible for monitoring operations to ensure they follow general manufacturing practice and internal policies
  • Recommend adjustments to the production process, inspect, test, or measure materials as required
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for inspection and production activities
  • Perform detailed inspections of both electrical and mechanical components at the piece part and assembly level
  • Initiating nonconformance, conduct root cause analysis, and issue corrective actions as required
  • Member of material review board team to ensure anomalies & non-conformances are dispositioned and re-verified
  • Process capital expenditures for inspection equipment and equipment for special processing
  • Responsible for leading and managing work planning, material management, schedules, and performance
  • Coach, mentor, and train other VHO team members in quality management principles, procedures, project-specific requirements, and inspection concepts
  • Support and maintain site safety to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with established safety procedures, requirements and goals
  • Use precision measuring instruments to verify compliance on dimensions, angles, radii, contours, holes, surface finishes, concentricity, hardness, material and plating
  • Support test and development organization during commissioning testing (test readiness reviews and approval process)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to grasp or manipulate objects with one or both hands
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use office equipment in the course of normal duties
  • Ability to work on a construction site in hazardous conditions
  • Ability to operate a forklift to enable part movement and kitting through the shop

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Advance experience programming and running several versions of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and Laser Tracker
  • Advanced experience using basic machine shop tools, caliper, micrometer, gauges and jigs
  • Hands-on working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 & GD&T principles
  • Experience working in an ISO9001/AS9100/IATF 16949 shop floor environment
  • Experience inspecting solder, crimping, conformal coating, staking, and surface mounted devices accordance with NASA 8739 and/or IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 standards
  • Experience performing pin to pin checks of wire harness in accordance with NASA-STD-8739. 3 and 8739.4, IPC-A-620 standards, or equivalent
  • Proficient with PC tools such as Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Project
