WHY WE NEED YOU

We are seeking an experienced and well-rounded Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer to join our System Integration and Analysis  team. The Lead EMC Engineer will be the technical focal and expert for all EMC related issues at VHThe Lead EMC Engineer may have responsibility for EMC standards, requirements, strategies and approaches, system level design optimization, modeling/simulation, analysis ,prototyping, and testing. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Provide general EMC design guidance for system and sub-system design
  • Support system and sub-system design and design review from EMC perspective
  • When needed, develop novel, advanced model approaches
  • Conduct reviews and analysis for EMC compatibility, including running trade studies on issues of high importance
  • EMC Testing:
    • Lead system level EMC testing: Initiate test plans and prepare reports of EMC testing. Conduct test reviews 
    • Recommend EMC test design
    • Design and build EMC test rigs for both system and sub-system EMI tests
    • Conduct EMC test for both system and sub-systems
  • EMC Simulation:
    • Create simulation models at system, sub-system, and component level
    • Validate simulation models by characterization test of systems and components
  • EMI:
    • Identify critical EMI issues at system, sub-system, and component level
    • Conduct simulations to predict potential EMI issues at various levels
    • Conduct EMI issue trouble shooting and failure analysis
  • Provide recommendations in mitigating potential EMC concerns
  • Recommend containment actions and long term solutions

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline with extensive industry experience 
  • Ability to use state of the art software tools in support of EMC testing and analyses. 
  • Proven ability to provide quality technical risk assessments for resolutions of EMC related problems or failure 
  • Expert knowledge of national and international EMC standards, such as DO-160 or equivalent from other industries 
  • Expertise within the following areas:  
    • EMC analysis and testing  
    • Design of hardware to mitigate EMC problems 
    • Application and development of advanced principles, theories and concepts in EMC testing and analysis for assemblies, subsystems and system level 

NICE TO HAVE

  • Master's degree or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline with significant industry experience 
  • Experience leading EMC programs at a system level
