Team and Role Overview:

At Relativity, we reimagine the way rockets are built and flown. We are looking for a Lead Design Engineer to help us achieve our ambitious goal of launching a 3D printed rocket. You will report directly to the Director of Vehicle.

 

The Mission/Outcomes and Objectives:

To support our mission of changing people’s conception of the way rockets are built and flown, you will be building and managing the official Terran 1 CAD assembly in Windchill. You will also be providing primary structure and component design support for our design teams.

 

A key outcome in this role is the completion of full engineering CAD Packages, bill of materials, and drawings for all vehicle components.

 

Candidate Profile:

In order to be successful in this role, you should be someone who thrives in ambiguity and is able to lead their own projects into completion. Ideally, you are someone who has come from a fast paced, aerospace environment, having completed difficult projects while collaborating effectively with other key groups.

 

On a day to day, you will be working within our PLM program, Windchill, managing large and complex assemblies (50+ components.) You should be aware of launch vehicle design standard and best practices in order to be successful in this role.

 

Minimum Required Skills and Competencies

  • 5+ years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
  • Extensive experience using a CAD and PLM program 
  • Knowledge of launch vehicle design standards

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • 10+ years of industry experience with an advanced degree
  • Experience with design for additive manufacturing
  • Extensive experience in Creo/ProE 
  • Experience in a CAD Administration role
  • Simple structural analysis abilities 

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a United States Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
