About The Role of Head of Engineering

Reporting directly to our CTO, you will lead a fast-paced team that is passionate about bleeding-edge technology, and building first-in-class products that our customers have grown to love.

Working across multiple cross-functional teams like Web, Mobile, DevOps, Product, and Design to deliver products at scale, you'll manage and mentor a team of exceptional engineers, grow the team, and be the architect of a culture of shared success.

What You Will Do

• You will play a critical role in our ongoing recruiting endeavors and the growth of the engineering team. You will work closely with our Talent Acquisition Team to craft narratives, develop a world-class engineering culture
• You will serve as the technical steward for all best practices in engineering across mobile, front end, backend, platform, SRE, security, privacy, data engineering, and integrity
• Lead and manage key activities in the development departments inclusive of reliability engineering and process automation in support of daily site/software development projects
• Oversee all activities of the staff, builds reliability-engineering capabilities, manages the departmental operating budget, and support any budget development for site/software projects
• You will be tasked with ongoing mentoring to key personnel. You will work hand in hand with key stakeholders to help develop and execute career development initiatives within the engineering organization
• Focus the management of technical integrations and relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Develop, implement, and maintain site/software engineering standards and policies
• Provide support and leadership to development departments, facilitating continuous evolution in both the frontend and backend development teams

Requirements

• 10+ years of leadership experience in a high-growth startup environment
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, JavaScript, and MySQL
• Demonstrable experience leading mobile, hardware, and manufacturing teams
• Confident and self-sufficient with AWS
• Extensive experience with Node.js and Express.js
• Experience with Agile methodologies and fast development cycles
• Can work cross-functionally to bring projects from idea to production
