A big vision calls for a big job. As we grow, our need for a Full Stack Ruby On Rails Developer grows with us.  We are considering remote for this role but welcome local candidates.

Our platform is built using Ruby on Rails so expertise in this area is a requirement. Familiarity with other aspects of the systems (Redis, MySQL, and Amazon Web Services, etc.) is not required, but is a huge plus.

You’ll Report To: Director, Engineering & Operations

A typical day as a Full Stack Ruby On Rails Developer might include:

  • Maintaining existing code as well as improving and updating code as needed
  • Reviewing current processes and making recommendations for improvement
  • Working with the team on day-to-day operations
  • Constructively providing feedback and insights to your peers through code reviews and other discussions
  • Constantly improving engineering standards, tooling, and processes

You’ll be successful if you are experienced in building within and maintaining large codebases containing a significant amount of business logic.

What You Have:

  • Experience building and maintaining web applications for 3+ years
  • 3+ years of Ruby on Rails experience and strong knowledge in best practices
  • Strong Linux working knowledge (Debian architecture)
  • Test driven development (Rspec, capybara)
  • Mercurial and/or Git (branching and merging)
  • Experience with continuous integration practices, pipelines and workflows
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. You can explain complex topics to both highly technical and non-technical team members
  • Not afraid to wear multiple hats - no job being too small or too large
  • We're casual and informal but we work hard and work responsibly…A pleasant and supportive demeanor goes a long way

Experience with any of the following technologies is a plus:

  • Java
  • React and/or AngularJS
  • Amazon Web Services (ELB, EC2, RDS, ElastiCache, S3)
  • Sage/MAS90
  • Basic DB administration (MySQL)
  • Jira
  • Agile development methodologies
  • ImageMagick, Photoshop, Blender and/or other image manipulation tools
