WHY WE NEED YOU

As a Firmware Quality Assurance Engineer at Virgin Hyperloop, you will be responsible for assuring control of software development and deployment throughout the software lifecycle. You will work closely with embedded software, machine intelligence, electrical design, manufacturing, and suppliers to influence the architecture, requirements, design, and testing.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Create and deploy project specific Software Quality Assurance Plan
  • Define, maintain, & apply quality processes for the software development life cycle within the engineering team
  • Develop and incorporate policies and procedures that support adherence to EN50128 or equivalent
  • Support and coordinate activities related to information security management ISO 27001
  • Review and validate software design requirements, FMEA, and hazard analysis
  • Perform white box and black box testing to verify products meet or exceed specifications
  • Develop automated and manual tests, reporting and verifying defects, and signing-off on release candidates
  • Identify and implement new methods to test the scalability and correctness of large-scale distributed systems
  • Port and execute tests to run on a wide variety of operating systems and real-time embedded platforms
  • Develop and maintain test automation frameworks
  • Evaluate and analyze performance
  • Effectively execute supplier audits and source inspection for hardware (PCB/PWB/Wire Harness)
  • Review source code and provide technical feedback and solutions alternatives
  • Support software design reviews, audits, program meetings, and configuration control board meetings
  • Perform process audits of software development processes to assure compliance to established policies
  • Witness execution of software qualification and system acceptance tests to ensure tests are executed in accordance with approved test procedures and requirements are fully verified
  • Facilitate thorough root cause analysis on major findings and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions
WHAT YOU'VE DONE
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or another related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a test engineer with experience testing both software and hardware
  • 5+ years related experience as a validation engineer
  • Advanced experience with Agile and Scrum methodology
  • Experience working within ISO and EN standards such as 50128, 50129, 50126
  • Advanced experience working with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Software 2 thru 4
  • Experience with root cause analysis, failure mode analysis, verification, and validation
  • Experience working with statistical tools including basic statistical inference, graphical methods, and regression
  • SW programming background with applied knowledge of C, C++ preferred
  • Extensive knowledge working with complex embedded systems
  • Experience in manual and automation testing
  • Experience programmatically testing products, measuring test coverage, developing automation, driving testability & diagnostic ability into the product, while promoting best practices in quality
  • Extensive knowledge using JIRA, GITHUB, JAMA, ZENHUB or similar version control, development, & bug tracking tools
