Responsibilities:
We are looking for an experienced Export Compliance professional to join The Aerospace Corporation (Aerospace). This senior staff level position will work from our El Segundo, California office and report directly to the Export Control Office (ECO) and the Empowered Official (EO) in the Aerospace General Offices (AGO). This position will be responsible for supporting export compliance issues as they relate to the Global Partnerships Office and providing export compliance guidance for other programs and projects company-wide.
Key Functions:
• Provide advice and input in all phases of global business development, acquisition and execution regarding export/import compliance strategies and processes and to help develop innovative business solutions
• Assist in administering an effective export program to ensure regulatory and internal policy requirements relating to export licensing, exemption and exception usage, training and recordkeeping are met
• Identify export and security issues, develop solutions and provide guidance to management on resolving issues to support business objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and internal policies
• Prepare licenses and other authorizations (DSPs, TAAs, BIS, etc.) requests for commodity jurisdiction, commodity classifications, advisory opinions and general correspondence and be familiar with DECCS and Snap-R databases
• Act as liaison with Defense Technical Security Administration, Department of State, Department of Commerce and other agencies responsible for export regulations to communicate and resolve export concerns
• Perform export reviews of material for external and/or public release
• Conduct or support internal/external compliance reviews, audits and investigations, prepare audit reports, corrective action plans, and appropriate disclosures as required
• Assist in ensuring requirements are applied and addressed (classified and sensitive but unclassified handling, OPSEC, foreign visits, foreign travel, etc.)
• Collaborate with customers (internal and external) to mutually establish cross-function requirements and priorities as a basis for department goals and anticipate future needs and build relationships
• Respond to requests for information, analysis of export compliance impact and review of contract provisions relating to export and security controls
• Travel on short notice
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Security management
Qualifications:
Required:
• Typically 8 or more years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree
• Broad and deep understanding of export disciplines and regulations (EAR, ITAR, etc.) including applicable industry best practices
• Experience in working with US government representatives (DoS, DTSA, DoC, SAF/IA and others) to coordinate, collaborate and discuss export strategy and procedures
• Knowledge of and experience with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual and its application to working with classified information and international security
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SSBI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required.

• Excellent organization skills, ability to multi-task, follow through with projects and meet deadlines
• Strong business acumen and proven ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) in a clear, concise and professional manner with all levels of management
• Ability to work at both detailed and strategic levels, work calmly under pressure and display sound judgment
• Operate with little supervision as direct management is located at AGO
