Job Summary
Main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies, are the domain of the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division. The division comprises all aspects, from architectures to implementation; our engineers work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient communications. The key functions of the Communication Systems Engineering Department are physical layer analysis, modeling, simulation and laboratory activities for the design, development, and evaluation of communication signals, systems, and digital signal processing algorithms.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Serve as the manager of the Communication Systems section in which you will provide technical and managerial leadership to your team, department, customers, and the corporation
- Your team will focus on conducting physical layer communication systems engineering, analysis, and laboratory functions to design, develop, and evaluate communication systems and signals
- Hire, develop, and maintain a team of communication systems engineers
- Support personnel actions, career growth and performance recognition
- Participate in day-to-day technical activities, task accomplishments, and review technical product outputs
- Work closely with customers to coordinate task expectations, resolve technical issues, and report progress
- Identify opportunities for additional, expanded, and new business
- Implement a work environment of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
- Participate in organizational functions, processes, and set organizational priorities
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in electrical engineering or related engineering discipline
- Eight or more years of progressively responsible engineering experience
- Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to work effectively with customers, personnel, and managers
- Technical experience in communication systems engineering, digital signal processing or related discipline
- Demonstrated ability to plan tasks, build, organize, and lead teams to resolve complex technical issues and deliver high-quality products
- Ability to support occasional travel
- Current DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree from an accredited program in electrical engineering specializing in communication signals and systems, digital signal processing or related engineering discipline
- Twelve or more years in communication signals and systems, or digital signal processing
- Previous team, project, or line management experience
- Experience performing one or more of the following: physical layer analysis, modeling, simulation or laboratory activities of communication systems, signals, or digital signal processing algorithms and systems
- Experience with one or more of the following: C/C++, Python, MATLAB, equipment integration and testing, software development, Software Defined Radio, GNU Radio, GPS/GNSS signals and systems
- Previous experience leading proposal or business development
- Initiative leading changes of organizational functions, processes, and capabilities
- Current TS/SCI
