About the role

The Director of Software Engineering role will help us lead and expand the software engineering organization at Ordermark. We need thoughtful, proactive leaders who support their teams, encourage growth, and drive accountability through results. We also desire those who can balance rapid iteration and development with high product quality expectations and who are innovative and comfortable with ambiguity.

As the Director of Software Engineering, you will lead the team responsible for delivering Ordermark’s SaaS solution to customers. Our SaaS solution encompasses several facets from mobile and web based front end applications down to our ultra-scalable core platform. While this is a management role, there is an expectation that this person is willing and able to roll up their sleeves with hands-on participation when the need arises.

The impact you will have:

• Manage a multi-discipline Engineering team, including leading other managers
• Thoughtfully scale our Engineering team in a high growth environment as the hiring manager; while prioritizing team culture and diversity
• Drive improvements in engineering best practices throughout the SDLC process. Step in as an advisor/architect as necessary to unblock and accelerate teams
• Develop and coordinate roadmaps across product, security, and infrastructure functions to ensure all goals are in sync and cross department dependencies are managed.
• Collaborate with your team and peers in ways that help lift them and the organization to new heights

What you bring to the role:

• 8+ years of professional experience with 5+ years of proven success as a Software Engineering leader
• Strong expertise in building large-scale web applications and distributed systems hosted on cloud services such as AWS. You understand what it takes to build, deploy, and support SaaS services
• A solid technical background and you can contribute to design and architectural discussions
• Passion for managing, mentoring and assisting people to reach their greatest potential and career goals
• Experience as a full stack developer is preferred
