Director of Software Architecture
THE PURPOSE:
The Director of Software Architecture will be part of the Software Engineering Division. This team develops the functional, logical and mapping to physical architectures in conjunction with other teams. The system spans embedded software, networking messaging, and into the cloud.
Ultimately, we will design reliable, scalable, real-time (or near-real time) applications that make Hyperloop One a reality. We are seeking candidates with various levels of experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Los Angeles facility.
THE ROLE:
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- Experience managing teams to create embedded software architectures with RTOS and Linux.
- Experience managing teams to create cloud software architectures on public and private clouds.
- Experience managing teams to create data dictionaries for IPC, network messaging and APIs
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct research into issues and products as required.
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language and visuals.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experienced people management of an organization with 40-60 people
- Experience scaling and growing team.
- Experience as a Software Architecture Manager or similar role.
- Industry experience building and maintaining software.
- Experience of embedded control networks.
- Experience of cloud architecture development.
- Experience managing software projects in an agile fashion.
- Experience managing extensive cloud infrastructure in a mission critical environment.
- Understanding of SOLID coding principles, software life-cycles.
- Understanding of performance tools, metrics and benchmarks.
- Working proficiency and excellent communication skills in verbal and written English.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- BS or MS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
- Experience with agile methodologies.
- Experience with modelling language and tools (e.g. UML)
- Experience in API specification for 3rd party users
- Experience with Testing practices - unit, integration, and end-to-end.
- Experience with source control. (Git, Svn, etc.)
