About the role

 

In the Director of DevOps & Security role you will focus on building and maintaining our operational infrastructure, implementing effective technical cybersecurity measures, and leading corporate security initiatives. You will utilize your expertise to influence the direction of the security plan for our products and platform. You are a hands-on leader who has built and managed highly scalable and mission critical cloud SaaS systems.

This role will continuously scan our technical environment to identify areas of opportunity and practice iterative problem solving to mitigate risk. You will work closely with all departments to ensure excellence in performance, and compliance of all security and policy regulations. This is an opportunity to own this vertical and inspire change by providing strategies and execution plans on company-wide initiatives.

The impact you will have:

  • Ensure we have highly-available and secure infrastructure with appropriate automation, monitoring, intrusion analysis, and incident response
  • Create and maintain infrastructure strategy, guidelines, policies and execution
  • Produce and coordinate roadmaps across security, engineering and infrastructure functions to ensure all goals are in sync and cross department dependencies are managed
  • Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems. Utilize monitoring tools to identify issues, resolve and/or escalate to development
  • Develop metrics to measure performance against initiatives and report on those to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to ensure there is a convergence of business, technical and security requirements
  • Stay informed and lead the evolution of our continuous delivery systems
  • Propose changes to existing policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance
  • Work with leadership across all teams to own and oversee compliance initiatives including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and associated federal and state privacy laws
  • Own, monitor and report on compliance with security policies
  • Identify and suggest new technology platforms to best suit our DevOps needs for testing, automation and containerization. We currently use: Kubernetes or Lambda, CircleCI, and Terraform 

What you bring to the role:

  • 8+ years of Software Engineering experience with 5+ years specifically in a DevOps, and/or Security and Infrastructure role
  • Expertise with provisioning and deploying SAAS-based applications in AWS
  • Passion for solving operational technical challenges with scalable automated solutions to technical challenges
  • Deep understanding of security/operations infrastructure including network infrastructure components (routers, firewalls), vulnerability management tools, IDS/IPS, SIEM, WAF, etc.
  • Proven working knowledge of CI and containerization
  • Commitment to excellence and constant improvement
  • Leadership - you have managed operations and individuals in this sector of an organization (SecOps, DevSecOPs, DevOps)
