WHY WE NEED YOU

The Virgin Hyperloop Control Systems team is responsible for delivering the vehicle control, from motion control and energy management (electrical, mechanical, thermal). We’re a multidisciplinary, cross-functional team that manage the design from system architecture and controller’s hardware to the embedded software deployed to the vehicle.

We are seeking candidates with broad skillsets related to controls system design to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals and work on one of the most challenging transportation applications on Earth, from right here at our Los Angeles facility.

The key activities that you will be working on are related to the control design of the Vehicle Thermal Management System, that integrates heat rejection devices, as well as the coolant distribution throughout the vehicle.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, implementation, experimentation, and optimization of control laws algorithms.
  • Execute performance and stability, safety, reliability analysis.
  • Develop algorithms for monitoring and protection at all levels; include fault detection, isolation and control reconfiguration.
  • Interface with Systems Engineering, Vehicle Dynamics, Embedded Systems, Electromagnetic Design, Power Electronics, and Test and Development teams for all integration activities.

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • Bachelor's in Control, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or another related field and equivalent work experience focused on mechanical systems control (Master`s desirable).
  • Experience in classic, optimal, robust and adaptive control law design techniques; From theory to practical application.
  • Expert in MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (GIT or similar)
  • Familiar with digital signal processing and sensor fusion.
  • Familiar with thermal management system designs.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced engineering environment, make decisions, and effectively lead tasks and meet challenging deadlines.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Completion of at least one control system development program for critical applications in aerospace, automotive or other transport vehicles in general.
  • Understanding of thermal system modelling at various levels of fidelity.
  • Experience designing, testing, and building a thermal management component or system.
  • Experience with low level implementation of embedded systems.
