Computer Vision Software Engineer
Team and Role Overview:
At Relativity, we reimagine the way rockets are built and flown. We are looking for a Computer Vision Software Engineer to join our growing Additive Manufacturing team in Los Angeles. As a Computer Vision Software Engineer, you will be developing novel computer vision applications to help us reach fully autonomous 3D printing. You will be reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, Jordan Noone.
The Mission/Outcomes and Objectives:
To support our mission to reimagine the way rockets are built and flown, as a Computer Vision Software Engineer, you will be working closely with our Additive Manufacturing team in order to create applications that will run our welding processes autonomously. This means that you will be implementing Computer Vision applications that run in real time—having the elements of image segmentation, object recognition, object pose detection, anomaly detection, sizing, and more.
In addition to the above, you will also be making key decisions in evaluating the application of deep learning vs traditional learning. The key outcome of someone in this role is to significantly increase our autonomous 3D printing capabilities.
Candidate Profile:
To be successful in this role, you should thrive in ambiguity and you are able to drive your projects to completion. Previous work experience at a company where you successfully implemented a Computer Vision application that runs in real time is preferred.
On day one, you should already know programming languages such as Python and/or C++, along with libraries such as OpenCV.
Minimum Required Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineer, Computer Science, or other related engineering field and 5+ years of experience successfully implementing CV applications that run in real-time OR an Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience
- Image segmentation, Object recognition, Object pose detection-6 degree of freedom experience
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python and/or C++
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Experience processing welding video
- Experience with 3D depth estimation and camera calibration experience
- Expertise in the OpenCV library
