WHY WE NEED YOU

  • The Component Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and/or creating BOM(s) for circuit board level components.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • As stated, the Component Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and/or creating BOM(s) for circuit board level components
  • Interact with Engineers, mechanical, quality, system, ECAD, buyers, component suppliers, distributers, and contract manufacturers
  • Work with Electrical Design Engineer Teams to select components based on performance, reliability, availability, cost, environmental and manufacturing requirements
  • Responsible for sourcing and interact with vendors to ensure delivery of components by need by dates of PCBAs
  • Work with Facilities/QA to ensure parts are properly received and inventoried, including standing up working long term solution
  • Ensure BOMs or equivalent tracking measures are done and up to date against current needs
  • Review and approve component specifications from suppliers
  • Familiar with Altium Designer, ideally capable of adding components to library PCB footprints and schematic symbols
  • Participate in root cause analysis with design and/or quality Engineers
  • Lead effort and/or Interact with buyers and Engineers to find alternate parts
  • Work in lab to investigate component failures.

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • Minimum BS Degree in Engineering
  • 4+ years’ experience as Electrical Engineer (Design) with component engineer practices or Component Engineer
  • Experience with mid to high level complexity embedded solutions
  • Thorough functional understanding of all component types including passives (resistors, capacitors, magnetics), actives (transistors, diodes), and integrated circuits
  • 4+ years’ experience in PCB assembly manufacturing
  • Intensive knowledge of PCB fabrication and failure modes
  • Understanding of conformal coat, staking and bonding processes used on PCB assemblies
  • Detailed understanding of AEC-Q, RoHS and IPC and other such standards/requirements
  • Enjoy collaborating with many different team members
  • Ability to thrive in a tight deadline driven development environment
  • Experience using microscope, milli-Ohm meter, LCR meter, x-ray, die penetrant, C-SAM, curve tracing a plus
