Overview

PennyMac IT is embarking on its public cloud migration, adoption, and optimization journey to foster company growth, scalability, and integration through innovation on its infrastructure, products, and services. 

 

To drive this effort, PennyMac IT is implementing a Cloud Enablement Center (CEC). The CEC is a team composed of the Cloud Business Office (CBO) and the Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) team. The goal of the CEC is to define and provide foundational public cloud capabilities to ensure a successful migration and effective operational transition to the public cloud. 

 

The Cloud Architect (CA) is a key position within the Cloud Business Office (CBO). The ECA's  primary focus is the delivery of cloud-related services and products to our internal customers. Being a member of the team, you are expected to be a thought-leader within the team. Your key responsibility is to map business requirements into actual solutions and help PennyMac implement them by leveraging agile methodologies using cloud computing services, technologies, and business processes. 

 

You will focus on creating solutions based on Cloud Computing , IaaS, and PaaS. Have a deep understanding of AWS services. Great communication skills and can clearly articulate architecture to peers.

 

You will design and build scalable, available and secure architecture for products/applications. Compile, develop, and deliver architectural guardrails; influence stakeholders and ensure compliance with architectural guardrails within many technology domains that support the needs of product teams to reliably launch products and services. Drive the evolution of infrastructure, processes, products, and services by convincing decision-makers.

Job Description

  • Lead the design and development of cloud infrastructure and cloud services
  • Establish architectural standards that enable DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code, and automated continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
  • Participate in early life deployments
  • Synchronize regularly with Cloud Platform Engineering team
  • Translate organizational level business requirements and use cases into infrastructure capabilities verified to meet the requirements
  • Design solution-independent architecture models that map business services to cloud application stacks
  • Providing standardized offerings to facilitate the successful secure access to stacks and the cloud environment overall
  • Identity and Access Management, Identity Federation / SSO
  • SEIM and Audit Logging (CloudTrail & Config)
  • Continuously manage, monitor, and update architecture models as business needs evolve and additional cloud services become available
  • Participate in optimizing solution architectures to manage costs and identify cost control mechanisms
  • Assist application solution architects design scalable, highly available, secure application solutions that leverage cloud services
  • Utilize cost/benefit models with mapping architecture to business outcomes and KPIs
  • Coordinate with Product Managers to incorporate the voice of the customer
  • Maintain technical vendor relationship
  • Participate in business case development and validation (for enterprise-level business cloud products/projects)
  • Curate cloud reference architectures

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years IT architect experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of Cloud Architecture experience

Desirable Certification

  • Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
  • Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
  • Deep hands-on experience leading the design, development, and deployment of business software at scale or current hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
  • Proven experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required
  • Experience coding in a higher-level programming language such as, Python, Ruby, JSON, etc. (3+ years)
  • Experience with database technology and architecture such as MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.
  • A keen interest in new technologies and open source
  • Willingness to research and self-study to keep technical skills relevant in a highly complex environment
  • Innovative and ability to think outside the box for creative problem solving
  • Mentors and coaches colleagues and seeks opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including group leadership and executive presentations
  • Drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, costs, project management, and risk mitigation
  • Proven experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required
  • Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (eg. security, privacy, SOX, etc.)
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience designing available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on AWS
  • Design of native Cloud applications, Cloud application design patterns, and practices
  • Demonstrated problem analysis and resolution skills
  • A proven track record of managing and delivering large-scale enterprise IT projects
  • Familiarity with industry compliance and security standards including PCI DSS, SOC-1&2 and ISO 27001
  • Experience managing data center operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications
