    The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Associate Director for the Software Systems Quality and Analysis Department (SSQ&AD). This role assists the Director in managing technical staff and operations, as well as providing part-time technical support to department customers.

     

    Key Functions

    • Provide software quality engineering expertise and leadership to DoD, IC, and Civil Space customers
    • Work with program offices and collaborate with other Aerospace organizations to staff projects with personnel possessing desired skills
    • Ensure quality of work delivered to department customers
    • Cultivate and expand existing service offerings to program offices; identify and create new service offerings as opportunities arise
    • Stay abreast of software product and process innovations that facilitate software quality engineering and adapt them for customer use
    • Assess staffing needs; hire and train to address the needs
    • Assess staff performance and facilitate skills development; provide career guidance to staff members, including succession planning and mentoring
    • Manage capital and overhead budgets
    • Contribute to achieving department, subdivision, division, and corporate goals

     

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science; Software, Electrical or Industrial Engineering; or closely related engineering discipline
    • 10 or more years of experience in developing and delivering software products is typical
    • A strong technical background and a clearly demonstrated expertise in software engineering
    • 10 or more years of experience in leadership capacity is typical
    • Strong technical leadership skills as demonstrated by delivery of technical products
    • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
    • Excellent written communications skills demonstrated in technical reports or publications
    • Ability to work diplomatically across organizations and tactfully advise decision makers
    • A commitment to delivering on organizational goals
    • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance

     

    Preferred

    • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline
    • Experience across the entire software lifecycle, from inception, through specification, design, construction, testing, deployment, and sustainment
    • Strong technical background and clearly demonstrated expertise in a combination of software engineering roles, for example, flight software, ground systems software,software design and programming, software architecture, software estimation, software measurement and statistical analysis, software quality assurance, software testing, and software process modeling and improvement.
    • Experience developing mission critical systems, working with multi-disciplined teams and large-scale software intensive systems.
    • Experience working in program offices acquiring software-intensive systems
    • Previous experience managing highly skilled, technical professionals
