Associate Director - Software Process, Measurement, and Modeling Department

The Software Process, Measurement, and Modeling Department goes beyond traditional, prescriptive program management methods to provide our customers with advanced, industry-leading expertise in managing their software system acquisitions through the application of state-of-the-art processes, real-time measurement and analysis, and dynamic outcome forecasting. The Associate Director contributes to delivery of these services as well as assisting in managing the department's work.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assisting the Director with department management and cultivating opportunities for providing our technical services.
- Providing software acquisition and development expertise to DoD, IC, and Civil Space customers. Services to these customers include:
- Development and acquisition process design, coaching, and improvement;
- Product and process measurement and analysis for facilitating program office management; and
- Modeling and simulation for forecasting and managing workflows to achieve desired outcomes.
- Developing staff and growing departmental knowledge through work and training assignments, mentoring, technical leadership, goal setting, and performance reviews.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science; or Software, Electrical or Industrial Engineering; or closely related engineering discipline
- Ten or more years of experience in developing and delivering software products is typical for gaining a strong technical background and clearly demonstrating expertise in software engineering
- Ten or more years of experience in leadership capacity is typical for developing strong technical leadership skills as demonstrated by delivery of technical products
- Excellent communications skills: interpersonal (demonstrated in working diplomatically across organizations and tactfully advising decision makers), presentation (demonstrated in briefings), and written communications skills (demonstrated in technical reports or publications)
- A commitment to delivering on organizational goals
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- Willing to travel domestically approximately 20%
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree from an accredited program in Computer Science, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline
- Experience across the entire software lifecycle, from inception, through specification, design, construction, testing, deployment, and sustainment
- Experience working in or with program offices acquiring software-intensive systems
- Familiarity with software for satellite ground, launch or space systems
- Familiarity with enterprise-level software development platforms
- Experience managing highly skilled, technical professionals
- Education and experience in any of the department's three core technology areas
