Assistant Pipeline Technical Developer About this position: 

Assistant Technical Developers are responsible for ensuring the pipeline needs for upcoming and active projects are met. Leveraging prior experiences and insight, this role is responsible for the continued development of effective and comprehensive artistic tools and production integration resources. Individuals in this position are expected to be able to confidently advise others on the best solutions to what are often complex pipeline needs. 

2~3 years experience developing for VFX applications, superior self-driven troubleshooting ability, and responsiveness to difficult questions and problems are integral to being successful in this role. 

 

Essential Functions: 

  • • Understand, recommend, and develop effective tools and solutions to meet the complex pipeline needs for all projects and facilities. Often the exact needs are unknown, and it will be up to you to determine what needs to be done 
  • • Recognize inefficiencies in existing tools and workflows, making efforts to improve wherever possible 
  • • Test and deploy new tools, updates, and software to the floor 
  • • Assist artists and support teams as needed to debug issues with their work, such as troubleshooting render or ingest failures 
  • • Taking into consideration the usage of finite resources when it comes to new initiatives and tools, such as the impact to licenses, bandwidth, disk usage, or render cycles 
  • • Keep current on new methods, software, and techniques used in post-production, and incorporating them into our pipeline where possible 
  • • Works on and supports the pipeline initiatives of all facilities globally 
  • • Other relevant duties as assigned by the manager 

 

Qualifications: 

  • • Strong Python programming skills are a required. Prior PyQT/PySide knowledge strongly recommended 
  • • Experience supporting and developing for some of the following: Nuke, 3DSMax, Maya, Houdini, After Effects, Silhouette, or other VFX applications 
  • • Experience with common industry software such as Deadline, Qube, and Shotgun 
  • • Confidence is your ability to make accurate decisions under pressure 
  • • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills 
  • • Proven ability to work independently and in a team setting 
  • • Proactive and highly motivated 
  • • Strong working knowledge of Linux/UNIX preferred 
  • • Career focus for the visual effects industry strongly preferred 
  • • Ability and interest in learning new skills autonomously highly desired
