Job Summary:
Acts as a key driver of operational excellence and regulatory compliance, managing the entire quality lifecycle—from proactive risk assessment and APQP activities to reactive root cause analysis and corrective actions. The Quality Engineer requires technical expertise in AS9100/ISO 9001 standards, a data-driven mindset for SPC and trend analysis, and the communication skills to interface effectively with both shop-floor leadership and external customers or suppliers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compliance & Audit Leadership: Facilitate ISO 9001/AS9100 certifications and lead customer, supplier, and regulatory audits to ensure full adherence to industry standards.
  • QMS Management: Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) by ensuring efficient documentation of procedures, desk instructions, and external standards.
  • Risk & Process Planning: Execute proactive quality planning through FMEA, process mapping, and the development of robust control plans.
  • Corrective Action & Root Cause: Lead investigations into non-conformances, performing root cause analysis and initiating corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Advanced Quality Planning (APQP): Support APQP activities and participate in cross-functional projects to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Monitor supplier defect rates and countermeasures, conducting on-site audits and source inspections to ensure contractual compliance.
  • Data Analysis & SPC: Review and monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems, analyzing trends and reporting quality performance data to top management.
  • FOD & Safety Oversight: Monitor Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control programs and communicate imminent risks or non-compliance to plant leadership immediately.
  • Training & Mentorship: Manage the employee training program, including scheduling, curriculum development for desk procedures, and onboarding new staff.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary quality liaison between customers, suppliers, and internal departments to resolve technical issues and support system changes.

Job Skills & Abilities:

• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
• Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) tools (e.g., 5-Whys, Fishbone) and FMEA.
• Experience with SPC software, data compilation, and statistical reporting.
• Ability to bridge the gap between technical data and executive-level reporting.
• Comfortable assisting with special projects, system testing, and interpreting departmental workloads.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
