Job Description:

The Role

Entegris is currently seeking a SCRUM Master Project Planner to join our Engineering team at our San Luis Obispo, California location.

The SCRUM Master Project Planner is responsible for

What You’ll Do

  • Facilitate standard Agile ceremonies tailored to our workflow, including stakeholder alignment, Retrospectives, Sprint Planning, and Daily Standups.

  • Help the engineering team break down large tasks into granular, trackable work items (hourly/daily effort levels) to ensure accurate capacity planning.

  • Work with the team to review rolled-over tasks, integrate new team-identified tasks, and finalize a realistic sprint backlog.

  • Calculate and track the team’s true velocity and capacity, ensuring the team does not overcommit.

  • Work closely with leadership and external stakeholders to prioritize urgent customer needs, floor support, and long-term project obligations.

  • Establish robust, highly visible communication systems (e.g., Jira, PowerBI) to track task progress continuously throughout the sprint.

  • Provide leadership with accurate, real-time reporting on sprint health, potential blockers, and engineering bandwidth.

  • Bridge the gap between the technical engineering team and non-technical stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of project constraints and timelines.

  • Lead retrospectives to identify what is going well and what needs improvement.

  • Coordinate and facilitate any necessary Agile/Scrum training to elevate the team’s project management maturity.

  • Identify bottlenecks in the hardware design and support processes, working with the team to implement process improvements.

  • Create a healthy and safe work environment for all employees.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

What We Seek

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Operations Management, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Agile Project Manager.

  • Experience applying Agile/Scrum methodologies in a non-software environment (hardware engineering, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing) is highly preferred.

  • Exceptional ability to manage stakeholder expectations, say "no" or "not right now" tactfully, and protect the team from scope creep.

  • Strong experience with capacity planning, task estimation, and helping technical teams break down complex deliverables into manageable, trackable hours/tasks.

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or similar Agile certifications are a plus.

  • Proficiency with Agile project management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, Asana, etc.) to build dashboards and communicate task statuses.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
