Job Description Summary:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overall management of Battery Energy Storage design resulting in successful project execution.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead the engineering team in the design, development, and implementation of Battery Energy Storage Systems projects.

  • Define project requirements, scope, and objectives based on RFP document review, Power Purchase Agreements, Generator Interconnection Agreements, Utility Interconnection requirements, Contract requirements, System Impact Studies, Facility Studies, and Customer/Owner Engineer requirements.

  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, monitoring progress against targets and providing technical input on budgets.

  • Coordinate with cross-function teams including electrical engineers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, OEMs, and fire protection engineers to ensure seamless integration of BESS components.

  • Evaluate designs to provide direction for value engineering.

  • Assist with vendor relationships, including external engineering teams, OEM’s, transformer suppliers, and other components.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations governing BESS installations.

  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure reliability, performance, and safety of BESS installations.

  • Collaborate with sales and business development teams to support proposal development and client engagement activities.

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the field of energy storage and renewable energy and incorporate them into project designs as appropriate.

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Drive innovation and process improvements to enhance the competitiveness of BESS solutions in the market.

  • Serve as a technical expert and point of contact for customer inquiries and support requests.

  • Regular travel (local and inter-state) required.

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; master’s degree preferred. 

  • Minimum 5 years of work-related experience in engineering with a focus on battery energy storage systems, renewable energy, or power systems integration.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects from concept to completion.

  • In-depth knowledge of battery technologies.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on practical, cost-effective solutions.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations such as IEEE, NEC, and UL.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality in engineering practices.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to work with others in all situations.

  • Ability to work, analyze, troubleshoot, and prioritize problems independently.

  • Effective written and verbal English communication skills

  • Proficiency and knowledgeable in office practices, procedures, and equipment

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and coordinate with internal and external stake holders.

Compensation Range:

$122,484.00 - $162,904.00
