Employee Relations Consultant - Human Resources (100% remote)
The Employee Relations Consultant supports staff employee relations functions within the Department of Human Resources at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). This individual will work with the Department’s Human Resources Advisors and leaders to develop and implement solutions for employee relations and development issues that enable the organization to maximize employee engagement and mitigate risk.
This position is 100% remote. All remote work must be performed within one of the MCW registered payroll states, which currently includes: WI, AZ, DE, FL,
GA, IL, IN, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, TN, TX, and UT.
Serves as employee relations point of contact to assigned department leaders, faculty, and staff regarding complex as well as day-to-day employee relations inquiries and needs. Apply analytical and problem-solving skills while advising department leaders, faculty and staff regarding policies, regulations, best practices, and recommended courses of action to bring employee relations matters to resolution. Facilitate employee relations investigations.
Provides support to the Human Resources Advisor and Employee Relations team, Office of Faculty Affairs and Office of Equal Access and their client groups with conducting tasks such as project management, data entry, retrieval, and analysis.,), reductions in force, processes unemployment claims and assists to promote employee relations initiatives.
Assists to promote Employee Relations, Faculty Affairs and Office of Equal Access projects and initiatives.
Facilitates requests for employment file, leave of absence and accommodations.
Develops internal process documents, leader resources, guides and assists with research of regulatory requirements.
Receives and conducts intakes on inbound employee relations, faculty affairs and Title IX inquiries. Participates in conducting investigations including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, Title IX, conduct, etc.
Consults with leaders and HR Advisors in the planning and conducting initial phases of an investigation of performance and corrective action-related concerns, drafts and reviews corrective actions, facilitates the staff grievance process, assists with EEOC claims and other organization charges/complaints.
Coordinates and monitors activities to ensure compliance of programs with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and guidelines and conforming to human resources management policies and procedures.
Responds to requests for information on HR policy interpretation from employees.
Researches and composes high level correspondence, reports, and presentations.
Maintains and audits employees’ relations trackers including but not limited to ADA accommodation, grievance, reduction in force, performance management and remote work requests.
Supports onboarding and offboarding activities for employees including condition of employment requirements, upkeep of offboarding content and distribution, conducts offboarding interviews, compiles turnover dashboards and data reports.
Participates in institutional initiatives, project goals and committees and facilitates Employee Relation staff policy and performance trainings.
Partner with the Employee Relations leadership and HR Advisor team to collect and analyze departmental needs to identify opportunities that enhance talent development, employee engagement and retention efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
Considerable working knowledge of computers, word processing, spreadsheets and database (MS Office).
Ability to interact with all level of management and employees across multiple departments.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Organizational and time management skills; must be detail-oriented, effectively manages workflow.
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
Minimum Required Experience: 2 years
Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.
Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.
Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.

Target salary range for this position is between $65,200.00 and $82,500.00 annually. The final offered salary will depend on the applicant’s education, experience, skills, and knowledge, as well as considerations of internal equity and market alignment.
