Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Performs design, development, testing, documentation, and analysis of software applications for company products. Assignments include development of new programs and subprograms, as well as enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing software/software systems. Duties include designing application, writing code, completing programming, developing and executing testing and debugging routines, and documenting work and results. May be responsible for developing or executing project plans, budgets, and schedules and for documentation of work and results. May function as a project engineer/leader with the resident responsibilities of proposals/project plan, schedules, work assignments, prime contact, technical presentations, cross functional issue resolution, etc. Is expected to keep up to date on technical advances in the discipline and related fields. Note: job levels E3 through E5 may include a software architect role.
CAREER LEVEL:
Works under limited supervision on assignments that require a comprehensive knowledge of the discipline. May be responsible for a business activity, or lead small projects, assume several components of a larger project or program, or complex portion of a large project/program. May assist and/or provide limited supervision to more junior staff members. Broad application of principles, theories, concepts, and techniques used in the applicable technical or business discipline and working knowledge of interrelated fields. Develops resolutions to diverse and complex problems very often requiring creativity. Exercises judgment using generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for arriving at solutions. Frequent inter-organizational and external customer contacts. May represent the organization on projects and interface with customers. Impact of errors may have implications requiring significant expenditure of resources to correct and/or achieve project goals. Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years’ experience, or Masters with 2+ years’, or its equivalent.


What You Will Do:

  • Design and develop embedded software solutions, spanning precision motion control, sensor integration, and mathematical algorithms.
  • Diagnose customer issues, perform and document root cause analysis and provide work around as well as long term fix.
  • Champion best practices in embedded software engineering, ensuring scalability, reliability, and adherence to industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced technologies such as machine vision and machine learning into embedded systems.
  • Use complete system knowledge to implement logic to control multiple devices for safe and reliable wafer handling.

What You Will Bring:

  • Computer or Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of software development with focus on equipment control involving robots and device integration.
  • Extensive experience developing embedded software for complex real-time systems involving control theories
  • Proficiency in C++ 14/17 and experience in POSIX and ANSI compliant real-time operating systems and microcontroller units (MCUs).
  • Experience using In-Circuit Emulators, Debuggers, Oscilloscopes, electrical schematics.
  • Experience in building robotics and motion control solutions with PID loops and deep understanding of DC servo motors, BLDC motors and stepper motors, multi-threading.
  • Familiarity with bootloader, memory management.
  • Experience in Linux operating systems and Python for scripting.
  • Fluency in UML for Object-Oriented Analysis/Design, including state machines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience using Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram or 5 whys or Fault Tree Analysis or similar methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (English) skills.
  • Preferred: Experince in C#.Net
  • Preferred: Previous experience in the semiconductor or semiconductor equipment industry.
  • Travel expectation would be 20%

Compensation

Base Salary Range: $110,621.72 USD to $149,664.68 USD

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
