Job Description

Position Summary 

Sibylline is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Protective Intelligence Analyst to support a client's global security, protective intelligence, and risk management functions. Embedded within the client environment, the Protective Intelligence Analyst will identify, assess, and communicate threats and emerging risks impacting personnel, executives, operations, events, assets, and brand reputation. 

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of protective intelligence principles, threat assessment methodologies, investigations, and risk analysis. This role requires the ability to transform complex information into actionable intelligence that enables decision-makers to mitigate risk, enhance security operations, and support protective measures for personnel and business activities. 

The Protective Intelligence Analyst will work closely with stakeholders across security, executive protection, investigations, crisis management, and business operations teams to deliver timely intelligence products, threat assessments, and operational support. 

Location: San Francisco, CA with in-office requirements of at least two days a week. The team will work Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm with a plan to grow them into an ‘on call’ rotation as the client builds out its internal operations. 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities 

  • Monitor, collect, and analyze information from a variety of sources to identify threats, risks, and emerging trends impacting personnel, operations, events, assets, and brand reputation. 

  • Conduct threat assessments and investigative research on threat actors, persons of concern, suspicious activity, and security-related incidents. 

  • Produce timely intelligence products, threat assessments, executive briefings, alerts, and other analytical reporting to inform decision-making. 

  • Provide intelligence support for executive protection operations, special event, and other security initiatives, including travel monitoring for elevated-risk destinations, risk-based intelligence, and location-based assessments. 

  • Triage and respond to requests for intelligence and investigative support, delivering actionable insights in a timely manner. 

  • Support critical incident response efforts through rapid research, analysis, and dissemination of relevant information. 

  • Maintain intelligence records, case management systems, and analytical databases to support ongoing operations. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance threat identification, risk mitigation, and protective security outcomes. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Experience supporting security, intelligence, protective intelligence, trust and safety, or risk management programs within technology companies, digital-first organizations, or high-growth startup environments. 

  • Has a strong foundation in protective intelligence, threat assessment, or corporate investigations within a technology company, government agency, or private-sector intelligence firm. 

  • Experience utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to enhance research, information analysis, investigative workflows, reporting, and operational efficiency. 

  • Advanced knowledge of protective intelligence principles, investigative techniques, and familiarity with structured threat assessment frameworks and how they inform threat triage and escalation. 

  • Strong proficiency in open-source intelligence collection, social media analysis, public records research, and online investigative methods. 

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify patterns, trends, and emerging risks. 

  • Ability to communicate risk clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all organizational levels via written and verbal delivery methods. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build productive working relationships. 

  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion. 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. 

  • Understanding of cognitive bias and its impact on intelligence analysis and decision-making. 

  • Proficient with intelligence research tools, Microsoft Office applications, collaboration platforms, and communication technologies. 

  • Commitment to objectivity, professional ethics, and analytical rigor. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Security Studies, International Relations, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Intelligence Studies, Business Management, or a related discipline; or equivalent professional experience. 

  • 5+ years of professional experience in protective intelligence, threat assessment, intelligence analysis, investigations, or related field. 

  • Demonstrated experience conducting threat assessments and investigative research. 

  • Proven ability to produce high-quality analytical reports and intelligence products. 

Additional Information

Work Environment/Physical Requirements 

This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures, and values. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to interact collaboratively with the team and stakeholders, and communicate via phone, videophone, or text messaging. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The position may require travel up to 5%. 

Salary Range depending on experience and location: 

  • San Francisco, CA $153,000 to 191,000 

This role does not offer relocation assistance.
