Manage and optimize the end-to-end supply chain for satellites, including procurement, supplier management, and inventory optimization, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with company standards.
The summary above was generated by AI

K2 is building the largest and highest-power satellites ever flown, unlocking performance levels previously out of reach across every orbit. Backed by $450M from leading investors including Altimeter Capital, Redpoint Ventures, T. Rowe Price, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Alpine Space Ventures, and others with an additional $500M in signed contracts across commercial and US government customers – we’re mass-producing the highest-power satellite platforms ever built for missions from LEO to deep space.

The rise of heavy-lift launch vehicles is shifting the industry from an era of mass constraint to one of mass abundance, and we believe this new era demands a fundamentally different class of spacecraft. Engineered to survive the harshest radiation environments and to fully capitalize on today’s and tomorrow’s massive rockets, K2 satellites deliver unmatched capability at constellation scale and across multiple orbits.

With multiple launches planned through 2026 and 2027, we're Building Bigger to develop the solar system and become a Kardashev Type II (K2) civilization. If you are a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and you're excited about contributing to the success of a groundbreaking Series C space startup, we’d love for you to apply.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain process. You’ll ensure materials, information, and products move efficiently between suppliers, manufacturing, and customers while maintaining cost effectiveness and high-quality standards. In this role, you’ll analyze data to forecast demand, manage supplier relationships, optimize inventory, and resolve operational challenges to ensure on-time delivery. You’ll also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements, ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations, and lead initiatives that enhance efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction across the supply chain.

Responsibilities

Technical Procurement

  • Source electrical hardware across the satellite often on expedited lead times including commodities such as: Sensors, PCBs, PCBAs, Harness assemblies, Connectors, Wire, Integrated Circuits, SMD components
  • Negotiate costs on electrical components
  • Provide design for manufacturability feedback for new electrical designs

Planning

  • Manage Bill of Materials for electrical assemblies and consumables
  • Lead Clear to Builds with engineering to ensure assembly milestones are completed to hit critical company deadlines
  • Develop long term forecasting and analytics tools to set up full scale satellite production for success

Supplier Development and Management

  • Develop and manage supplier base to support ongoing development across satellites subsystems from NPI through production phases
  • Act as the primary interface between suppliers and internal customers including: supplier onboarding, evaluation, negotiation, and project management
  • Source high complexity commodities to find multiple long term paths to secure supply for critical electrical assemblies

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience of supply chain management or engineering in the aerospace industry
  • 2+ years of experience in procuring the following commodities: PCBs, PCBAs, and Harness assemblies
  • Experience managing suppliers in a fast-paced environment
  • Vendor management and negotiation experience
  • Strong understanding of quality control practices such as issue tickets
  • Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment with engineering, production, and finance
  • Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time
  • Must be able to lift and carry parts or equipment up to 25 lbs. unassisted

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, finance, electrical, aerospace, mathematics, or other relevant engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of technical procurement experience
  • 3+ years in a new product introduction environment
  • Prior experience with space grade electronics
  • Bill of Material Management and Planning Experience
  • Experience implementing AS9100 or completing AS9100 audits
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical engineering drawings
  • Prior leadership experience

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary range for this role is $90,000 – $140,000 + equity in the company
  • Salary will be based on several factors including, but not limited to: knowledge and skills, education, and experience level
  • Comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, paid parental leave, and many other perks

If you don’t meet 100% of the preferred skills and experience, we encourage you to still apply! Building a spacecraft unlike any other requires a team unlike any other and non-traditional career twists and turns are encouraged!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
