Description
The Electrical Engineer position relies heavily on engineering concepts and calculations. The Electrical Engineer will work with our Operations, Estimating, Construction, and Business Development teams to design a high-quality and efficient solar PV system, BESS, and PV charging stations. A high sense of urgency, critical thinking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment is expected.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include solar energy system design and layout; interconnection design and equipment selection; energy production analysis; engineering support during construction, evaluating future technologies; and developing internal intellectual property products and offerings
- Create initial PV system layout in helioscope and AutoCAD to be utilized in proposals and provided to outside electrical engineering firms to create full construction drawings
- Feasibility analysis for PV systems based on existing electrical load and energy consumption
- Design PV systems compliant with applicable NEC, utility, and program requirements
- Generate energy production analysis
- Generate single-line/three-line diagram based on site visit, photos, and existing system layout
- Generate production performance guarantees for contracts
- Electrical load calculation and electrical equipment specification
- Coordinate with civil and structural engineering firms to obtain detailed civil and structural design packages from third-party vendors/firms that meet all contractual and permitting requirements
- Site assessment for PV installation
- Technical review of plans and specifications
- Technical descriptions for RFP responses
- Collaborate with interdepartmental teams to address issues pertaining to, but not limited to, production, feasibility, cost-benefit analysis, design faults, et al.
- Support for estimating process
- Attend site walks for RFPs
- Troubleshoot design and construction issues compliant with the National Electrical Code
- Work with project managers and sales personnel on presentations and technical matters
- Work with estimating to review RFPs, aid in the development and preparation of high-quality proposal(s)
- Site visits for troubleshooting on installed arrays as necessary.
- Research and stay current with new emerging PV/RE design technologies
- Regularly engage with major system component vendors
- Any other duties as may be necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in utility-scale solar PV Design, design/build, or EPC field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and PVSYT required
- PE License is an advantage
- NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional is an advantage.
