Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer III provides advanced technical expertise in the design, development, and optimization of low and medium voltage power systems. The Electrical Engineer III serves as a technical mentor to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineer and design switchboard and switchgear to customer specifications, developing detailed electrical designs for components.
- Create drawings, elevations, and optimize electrical schematics considering power distribution, protection, and control requirements.
- Specify and select electrical components (e.g., circuit breakers, relays, transformers) based on performance criteria, applicable standards and project requirements.
- Develop Sequences of Operation (SOO) documents and verify system functionality aligns with the design intent.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the equipment design throughout the manufacturing and testing phases.
- Collaborate with test and field service teams to verify physical system operation against the final design and written SOO.
- Support Factory Witness Tests (FWT) by conducting troubleshooting and communicating technical solutions.
- Provide engineering and technical support to manufacturing to optimize production and industrial engineering practices.
- Manage assigned projects from detailed design through validation, coordinating technical timelines with procurement and production.
- Mentor and support the professional development of junior engineers through design reviews and knowledge sharing.
- Provide advanced design support, proactively identifying design risks and proposing viable mitigation strategies.
- Act as a key technical resource for Sales and Project Management, assisting in technical proposal development and attending customer meetings.
- Conduct Engineering Review meetings to ensure all designs strictly meet client and regulatory specifications.
- Create design calculators and internal tools, coordinating with the software team to automate key engineering workflows and improve team efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field required.
- Previous field service experience, knowledge and understanding is a plus.
- Experience with automation, test systems, or high-reliability electrical assemblies preferred.
Core Competencies:
- Expert knowledge of applicable electrical standards, including UL, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, and other relevant standards related to switchgear and switchboard electrical design.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of power distribution systems, switchgear, switchboards, controls, and complex distribution systems.
- Proficiency in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or EPLAN.
The base pay range for this role is $125,000 – $178,000 per year.
