The EHS Specialist manages the development, planning, and implementation of company environmental health, safety, and security to meet sustainability and corporate responsibility goals as well as to ensure safety of people and resilience of operations. Conducts training for personnel on environment, health & safety issues to ensure compliance. The role reports to NI ESG Team. 

Responsibilities

You as the EHS Specialist at the Allentown manufacturing facilities, PA have the overall responsibility for maintain Nokia EHS standards, compliance with governmental regulatory requirements, and work with site leadership and employees for a safe and healthful work environment. 

You will be also responsible for implementing and maintaining ISO14001 the ISO45001 certification. 

 

Willing to travel up to 10 % of the time.
Your responsibilities include the following tasks/programs
 

  • Environmental 

    • Hazardous Waste Registration, Storage, Recordkeeping, Reporting and Compliance
    • Chemical Storage, Handling, Tracking, and Emergency Planning
    • ISO14001 Management System and Auditing
    • Monitoring/performing hygiene assessments
  • Safety
    • Knowledgeable on both understanding and implementing OSHA requirements 
    • Laser Safety Officer
    • X-Ray Safety
    • EME/RF Safety
    • ISO45001 Management System and Auditing
    • Emergency Management and Response
    • Investigation  
    • Respiratory Protection
    • hazardous chemical usage
    • Semiconductor Manufacturing experience a plus 

 

Other responsibilities

 

  • Working inside a team, supporting each other and acting as a delegate in case of absence. 

  • Periodic attendance in forums/meetings of the business unit/EHS function. 

  • Leading E&HS Workgroups

  • Periodic reporting of Environmental and Health and Safety data (external and internal).

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety; Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.  Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent qualification preferred.
    Experience in EHS roles in Telecommunications or Oil & Gas or Manufacturing or similar industries.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; adept at interacting with and influencing a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels

  • A passion for and technical knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety program management combined with a high level of personal integrity to ‘do the right thing’ 

  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity particularly in the area of crisis management 

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Co-operative team player and leader of specialists, and able to deal with outside stakeholders
