Job Summary
We are currently seeking an outstanding Environmental, Health, & Safety manager to support our Research & Development facility in Palo Alto, California. This is an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced dynamic work environment. The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of Environmental, Health, Safety principles, general working knowledge of applicable EHS regulations, strong problem-solving capability, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated leadership skills.
- LEADERSHIP: Provide leadership in setting overall strategic site R&D EHS goals and milestones/ deliverables in accordance with the Corporate and annual EHS Research & Development directives. Ensure that the R&D site operations and functions are conducted in accordance with local regulations and our core values around Environmental, Health, & Safety.
- PEOPLE MANAGEMENT: Responsible for managing site EHS team including mentoring and career development. Active member of the R&D Global EHS team. Helps the site continue its safety improvement journey
- PROGRAM MANAGEMENT: Responsible for managing site R&D EHS programs and associated audits. Programs will include but are not limited to: Boiler and pilot plants, wastewater, solid waste, hazardous waste, air emissions, storm water, enzyme safety, confined space entry, electrical safety, emergency response, hazard communication, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, injury/illness prevention and medical surveillance, EHS auditing and training
- COMPLIANCE: Responsible for regulatory reporting and compliance to state, federal and local agencies. Prepares, submits, and monitors compliance with regulatory permits.
- PROJECTS, SITE DEVELOPMENT: Evaluates EHS implications of new R&D projects and site process changes and participates in site project teams as appropriate. Mentors and helps build EHS awareness in all employees especially those new to the site.
Requirements
- MS/MPH in industrial hygiene, environmental or related field and 3-5 years’ experience in EHS. BS is acceptable with appropriate work experience.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the desire to work with a multidisciplinary team including strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Highly motivated with strong problem-solving skills and be capable of working independently or in a collaborative setting.
- Ability to effectively manage hazard recognition and knowledge of control methodologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Industrial hygiene general principles and monitoring techniques.
- Ability to interpret corporate and business guidelines and local, state and federal regulations applicability and willingness to seek the guidance of business EHS subject matter experts.
Compensation 120K-145K is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, 401k, vacation, holidays, paid parental leave (maternity and paternity), and an annual bonus plan.

Salary Ranges:
$97,700.00 - $181,400.00
