Job Description:

·         Start Time: 7am to 3:30pm (Overtime as needed and Schedule Flexibility)

·         Shift: Mon – Fri (Potentially Saturdays Upon Operational Need)

·         The Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment for all associates, contractors, visitors, and customers. This role supports the site’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs by assisting with compliance initiatives, training, audits, incident investigations, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement efforts. The Safety Coordinator reports directly to the Site EHS Manager and serves as a key partner in fostering a strong safety culture across the facility.

·         In addition to safety-related responsibilities, this position requires prior forklift operating experience. As a subject matter resource, the Safety Coordinator may be required to perform functional warehouse operations as needed, support operational coverage, conduct forklift evaluations, and train associates on safe material handling and powered industrial truck operations.

 

·         What You Will Do
Assist the EHS Manager with the following:

·         Review, revise, and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

·         Develop, coordinate, and deliver new hire orientation, task-specific training, monthly safety training, and ongoing safety awareness initiatives.

·         Conduct hazard assessments, risk analyses, and safety evaluations for new or modified processes, equipment, workstations, and work areas.

·         Lead and coordinate the site's Emergency Response Team (ERT), including emergency preparedness activities, drills, and response planning.

·         Support security and EHS-related projects that drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

·         Compile, analyze, and report EHS key performance indicators (KPIs), including leading and lagging metrics for internal and external stakeholders.

·         Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance with OSHA standards, Client Golden Rules, site procedures, and best practices.

·         Lead or support safety and security incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive action implementation.

·         Partner with operations, supervisors, and associates to identify and address workplace hazards and drive proactive safety improvements.

·         Participate in safety committees, engagement activities, and site-wide initiatives that reinforce a culture of safety accountability.

·         Maintain accurate training, audit, incident, and compliance records.

·         Serve as a forklift safety resource by conducting observations, coaching operators, supporting certification activities, and reinforcing safe powered industrial truck practices.

·         Provide hands-on operational support when needed, including safely operating forklifts and material handling equipment to support business needs and maintain familiarity with operational processes.

This job might be for you if:

·         Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.

·         Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and other applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements.

·         Previous forklift operating experience required, including experience working in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment.

·         Ability and willingness to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment as needed to support operations and training activities.

·         Experience training, coaching, or certifying forklift operators is highly preferred.

·         Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence employees at all levels of the organization.

·         Experience developing and delivering effective training programs.

·         Strong problem-solving, analytical, and root cause investigation skills.

·         Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.

·         Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

·         Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         OSHA 30-Hour Certification or equivalent safety credential.

·         Experience in manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, or distribution operations.

·         Experience with incident management systems, auditing programs, and safety management software.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus.
