The Editor is responsible for assembly and final editing of our feature project. The Editor will liaise with filmmakers and creative executives to deliver high-quality projects.

Sony Pictures Animation is a pre-production animation studio based in Culver City, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world. We pride ourselves on empowering filmmakers to lead the creative process, and allowing the hand of the artist to be truly felt, with the goal of producing bold and innovative visual storytelling.

Responsibilities:
  • Make decisions regarding pacing, acting, dialogue, music and sound effects that determine the quality and delivery of the animated project
  • Work with directors, producers, and executives and ensure quality product from early production (animatic) through delivery of final animated version.
  • Oversee correct presentation of editorial-related materials for production screenings and exports to third parties.
  • Serve as a key member of the production team, interacting with production staff and animation/VFX professionals.
  • Attend and participate in notes sessions with creative and management groups.
  • Oversee incorporation of changes resulting from production screenings.
  • May mix sound materials in Avid or participate outside mix sessions to ensure sound quality.
  • Responsible for feeding the production and post production operations and allow timely processes
Qualifications:
  • Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple projects at the same time.
  • 5+ years experience in animation editorial.
  • High degree of proficiency in Avid Media Composer.
  • Combination of creative and organization skills with great attention to quality products.
  • Familiarity with feature animation pipeline and workflows.
  • Understanding of Animation pre-production, production and post production processes.
  • Strong teammate with good interpersonal and communication skills.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $3,232/week to $4,500/week. This role qualifies for benefits pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors.
