We are looking for an experienced and talented Editor to join the UCAN Marketing Creative Services team based in Los Angeles, CA, constantly raising the bar in creative execution for our high-profile stakeholders. Working in partnership with our Post Production Supervisor and Assistant Editor, the Producer-Editor ensures projects are organized, creatively executed, delivered on time, and on brand. 

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Sr. Manager Creative Services, the Editor is an integral part of video execution. In this role, you are responsible for creatively executing video content for internal distribution. You should have a deep understanding of AV Creative Development, Editorial, and Post Production workflows. You have a knack for visual storytelling, are technically savvy, and innovative in a high-speed, high-performance environment. You are nimble and can gracefully navigate conversations across project stakeholders at various levels, exercising sound judgment, and excel as a strong individual contributor while being a collaborative partner in a rigorous environment. 

Responsibilities include:

EDITORIAL & CREATIVE

  • Ability to craft compelling narratives that engage viewers and promote the desired message from a creative brief and/or talking points, ensuring the story aligns with project objectives.

  • Edit both short-form and long-form video content, from various source material (original shoot, archival, and/or title content), maintaining high standards of quality and creativity.

  • Source music and sound effects from approved libraries, ensuring the right tone and pacing for creative work. Work with the assistant editor to ensure rights & clearance documentation is created and QC’d for accuracy.

  • Maintain strong attention to detail with sound design and transitions, ensuring smooth progression through the edit timeline.

  • Provide a creative perspective on Motion Graphic Design/execute simplified Morion Graphics (as needed)  to elevate your editorial creative direction. 

  • Partner with the assistant editor to ensure video files are finished and mastered to the necessary distribution specs, including required branding and English subtitle generation.

  • Liaise with various Netflix AV Production teams as needed, when execution requires.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Work closely with the Post Supervisor for handover of projects from intake to development and pre-production.

  • Lead assigned projects from pre-production through post, following through on production schedules, managing timelines, and working with Post Supervisor in check-in meetings to surface issues and to ensure on-time deliveries.

  • Collaborate with Post Supervisor and key stakeholders to clarify creative direction, provide updates, and ensure feedback is incorporated throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Proactively identify and address potential risks or bottlenecks in the production process, recommending solutions to keep projects on track.

WORKFLOW & TOOLING IMPROVEMENTS

  • Curious to learn about Netflix applications and internal resources to bolster edits and streamline workflows.

  • Strategize how we eliminate, delegate, or automate our AV Production workflows for maximum efficiency without sacrificing quality or security.

  • Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging creative input and feedback from all participants.

  • Lead or participate in project meetings, production briefings, and post-mortems to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • 5+years of Marketing/Promotional Editor experience.  

  • Experience executing a sound and color balance pass using applications within the Adobe Suite and/or DaVinci Resolve is not required, but a plus!

  • Proven expertise in Adobe Suite, particularly Premiere Pro.

  • Experience with design and animation in After Effects and Illustrator a plus.

  • Strong Creative copywriting skills

  • Familiarity with original shoot production schedules.

  • Strong understanding of media management, project organization, and post-production workflows.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to lead teams and liaise with stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Fluent in AV file elements, codecs/file types, social and digital formats. 

  • Experience facilitating approvals with high-profile stakeholders is a plus.

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of hourly pay; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in hourly pay versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The hourly range for this role is $64.42 - $110.58.

We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
