We are looking for an experienced EDI Edifecs Tester to validate software solutions supporting healthcare EDI transaction processes. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and functionality of EDI workflows by leveraging your knowledge of Edifecs software and EDI standards.
You will develop and execute comprehensive test plans and strategies for various EDI transactions, using both manual and automated testing methods. This includes generating test data, running test cases, documenting results, and reporting defects to the development team to support continuous improvement.
This is pivotal role that requires close collaboration with internal business and technical stakeholders to support and enhance healthcare-specific data transformation and EDI processing workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in requirements elaboration with business subject matter experts to gather, elaborate, and validate detailed functional requirements.
- Define the scope of testing, identify appropriate test types (e.g., functional, regression, integration), and create detailed test cases in Jira.
- Analyze and validate EDI transaction business logic, including request and response flows.
- Utilize Edifecs tools such as SpecBuilder and MapBuilder to validate transaction compliance with HIPAA regulations and trading partner agreements.
- Validate that transactions process correctly through Edifecs XEngine and that data is accurately mapped to and from internal systems.
- Identify, document, and report defects with clarity and precision.
- Work closely with developers to troubleshoot issues and verify resolution through re-testing.
- Validate defect resolutions through re-testing and communicate testing outcomes to project teams and stakeholders.
- Conduct root cause analysis for transmission or processing issues and document related defects.
- Participate in end-to-end testing to verify the entire EDI transaction workflow functions as expected, including both inbound and outbound processes—from initial request through to final response.
- Execute complex EDI scenarios (e.g., approvals, denials, requests for additional information) and test complete transaction lifecycles with accuracy.
- Ensure all critical issues are resolved prior to go-live.
- Act as a liaison between internal technical teams and client stakeholders, facilitating smooth communication and issue resolution.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• Hands-on experience with Edifecs tools, including Transaction Manager, XEngine, and SpecBuilder.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA-compliant healthcare EDI transactions and workflows (e.g., 837, 834, 835, 270/271, 276/277, 278)
• Proficiency in using Postman to create and execute test cases for EDI and API validation.
• Expertise in developing test strategies, test plans, and test cases aligned with user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Skilled in analyzing and reporting test results, with the ability to recommend effective remediations.
• Deep domain knowledge in EDI standards and healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA guidelines.
• Ability to validate EDI data against business requirements and technical specifications, including mapping between internal systems and X12 standards.
• Strong proficiency in SQL for data validation and troubleshooting.
• Experience using Jira for managing test documentation, user stories, and execution tracking.
• Working experience in Agile/Scrum environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to proactively identify and resolve complex issues.
• Ability to produce clear and comprehensive documentation, including process flows and technical specifications.
• Strong collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
• Comfortable presenting to groups and leading meetings to consensus.
• Experience with government and/or healthcare payer systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience generating EDI test data and executing automated test cases.
• Familiarity with Edifecs Application Manager (EAM) or additional Edifecs modules.
• Exposure to cloud-based deployments, particularly in AWS environments.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and containerized testing (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience using diagramming tools such as Microsoft Visio or Lucid chart.
• Prior involvement in government or federal healthcare projects, especially within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Certification in HIPAA compliance, Agile methodologies, or Edifecs products.
• Capable of independently prioritizing and executing tasks while contributing effectively to team efforts.
