About the Client
Our client is a fast-growing consumer health brand that designs award-winning, doctor-engineered humidifiers for modern households. They sell DTC via Shopify and across marketplaces like Amazon, with a strong reputation for product quality and customer experience. The team values data-driven decision-making to keep operations lean, improve delivery speed, and scale sustainably.

Why does this role exist?
As the company scales DTC and marketplace channels, they need a dedicated analyst to turn raw Shopify, Amazon, and 3PL data into clear operational decisions. This role exists to improve inventory planning, reduce logistics costs, and align stock with marketing plans through robust forecasting and real-time visibility. The analyst will help the business move from reactive to proactive operations, ensuring products are in the right place at the right time—at the lowest possible cost.

The Impact you’ll make
Inventory, Forecasting, and Demand Planning
  • Build SKU-level demand forecasts using trends, marketing spend, and seasonality.
  • Recommend safety stock levels and reorder points to prevent stockouts and overstocks.
  • Reconcile sell-through vs. on-hand and inbound to improve inventory turns.

Logistics, 3PL, and Shipping Analytics
  • Analyze carrier performance, delivery speed, and shipping cost per order to identify savings.
  • Monitor 3PL SLAs, lead times, receiving delays, and pick/pack accuracy.
  • Surface root causes for late deliveries and propose corrective actions.

Ecommerce Analytics and Reporting
  • Create automated dashboards in Looker/Tableau/Power BI for real-time visibility (orders, OTD, cost-to-serve, inventory health).
  • Write and maintain SQL queries to unify Shopify, Amazon, and 3PL data.
  • Build ad hoc analyses for promotions, product launches, and seasonality.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Align stock plans with Growth/Marketing calendars and budgets.
  • Provide scenario analyses (e.g., promo lift, channel mix shifts, inbound delays).
  • Translate technical insights into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.

Data Quality and Governance

  • Validate data accuracy across sources; document assumptions, definitions, and logic.
  • Standardize KPIs (e.g., MAPE, OTIF, CPP, inventory turns) and reporting cadence.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required:
  • Hands-on experience working with ecommerce or operations data (inventory, 3PL, shipping).
  • Proficient in SQL (joins, window functions, CTEs) for analysis and reporting.
  • Built production dashboards in Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Familiarity with Shopify and/or Amazon Seller Central data and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze logistics performance and drive cost/time improvements.
Your superpowers are...
  • Technical: SQL; dashboarding (Looker/Tableau/Power BI); advanced Excel/Google Sheets; exposure to Python or R for forecasting; comfort working with Shopify, Amazon, and 3PL data; understanding of forecasting methods (seasonality, trend, promo uplift); KPI design (MAPE, OTIF, CPP, lead time, inventory turns).
  • Soft skills: Clear data storytelling, business acumen, curiosity, attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to partner across Growth and Operations.
WFH Set-Up:
  • Computer with at least 8GB RAM, an Intel i5 core processor/AMD Ryzen 5 Processor and up.
  • Internet speed of at least 40MBPS
  • Headset with an extended mic that has noise cancellation and a webcam
  • Back-up computer and internet connection

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
