This SkillBridge opportunity provides transitioning service members with hands-on experience in talent acquisition, recruiting operations, and federal contracting support within a fast-paced government contracting environment. Participants will gain direct exposure to the full recruiting lifecycle while working alongside experienced recruiters and business professionals supporting federal clients and proposal efforts.
Through structured mentorship, practical training, and supervised recruiting activities, participants will develop civilian recruiting and operational skills that translate military leadership, communication, and personnel management experience into the government contracting sector.
Key training areas and responsibilities include:
- Candidate sourcing using LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, networking platforms, and Boolean search techniques
- Resume review, candidate qualification, and pre-screen coordination
- Maintaining recruiting pipelines and applicant tracking systems (ATS/CRM)
- Shadowing recruiter, hiring manager, and candidate interviews
- Supporting proposal staffing and government contract recruiting efforts
- Drafting job postings, outreach campaigns, and candidate communications
- Learning federal contracting recruiting workflows, compliance requirements, and documentation practices
- Participating in weekly mentorship, recruiting strategy discussions, and performance feedback sessions
- Exposure to business development and operational support functions within the government contracting industry
This program is designed for service members interested in transitioning into civilian recruiting, talent acquisition, staffing operations, or broader government contracting support roles.
Requirements
- Active-duty U.S. service member approved or eligible for the DoD SkillBridge Program
- Ability to commit to a full-time SkillBridge internship (up to 180 days)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, web-based tools)
- Professional demeanor and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Background in recruiting including: Experience translating military qualifications to civilian roles, coordinating personnel actions, managing candidate or member records, or supporting onboarding and placement activities is highly valued.
